This comparison website analyzed a staggering 27,000 customer reviews across more than 100 airlines to determine which offers the best onboard meals, and MEA emerged as one of the top contenders. This recognition puts Lebanon’s national carrier in the spotlight for its commitment to serving quality meals in the air. Worldwide, about 12 to 72 hours before meals are served, in-flight meals are prepared in commercial kitchens and blast-chilled to about 5°C. They are then delivered at the respective airports approximately four hours and typically on-board one hour before flight departures. During the flight, the food so delivered is reheated in on-board ovens and served to the passengers. In case of low cost carriers, it is served in-as-is condition due to non-availability of ovens. In this background, I would like to share my recent past experience on flights from Singapore to Delhi. I am frequently travelling on this sector for quite a while. My comcern is that food served on this sector by Indian carriers across the board is uplifted from Delhi. I presume that this may be the practice of Indian Carriers for flights from Singapore to other airports in India also. Being diabetic, I remember talking to one of the arlines on this issue but the response was that if they air lift the food from singapore, it costs them more and for this reason they are airlifting the food for return flight from Delhi. I am sure that they may be following the same practice on other international sectors also. This narration is just to make the passengers aware of the gimmicks and tactics of the airlines and to caution them that food served to them on return sector to India may be stale. When authorities have allowed the airlines to charge for the food, passengers have all the right to know whether the food served to them on board is fresh or not. Mind it, airlines are there because of passengers opting to travel by air and not vice versa. With this, I leave it here for the public at large to decide.

⚠️ Starting August 15, the Korean airline will no longer serve instant noodles, a beloved snack among travellers. Instant cup noodles, also called ramyeon in Korea, are prepared by pouring hot water and seasoning in a cup. According to the Korean Air, the risk of burns from hot noodles has increased due to more frequent turbulence, narrower aisles, and closer seating arrangements. As climate change increases the likelihood of severe turbulence, airlines are taking a more cautious approach to ensure passenger safety. While business- and first-class passengers can still enjoy steaming cups of instant noodles, economy flyers will be offered alternative snacks like sandwiches, corn dogs, and pizza. Minister Of Aviation Festus Keyamo Urges Airlines To Use Local Caterers For On-Board Meals Nigeria’s Minister of #Aviation, Festus #Keyamo, has issued a directive to #airlines, urging them to patronise local #caterers for the preparation of on-board meals. The directive, announced via the Minister’s official #X (formerly Twitter) account, aims to support local businesses and ensure that the benefits of #Nigeria’s large population and air traffic are channelled into the country’s economy. #Keyamo clarified that the directive does not mean airlines are required to serve traditional Nigerian dishes, but rather that local caterers are capable of preparing any meal according to the airlines’ specifications, including continental dishes. He emphasised that the long-standing practice of airlines bringing frozen meals from other countries to be served on outbound flights to Nigerian passengers is no longer acceptable. “We have quality control agencies to supervise the hygienic nature of those meals, if that is their concern,” the Minister stated. It ain't CHEAP, it's worth Service Up In The SKY ! ♥️ IndiGo In an age where I was spoilt to have all inclusive meals and service on my travels and free airport lounge access i never bothered looking at the prices of services at an airport or on no frill airlines as it was all paid for. I never bothered checking the prices untill recently when I was on a BOM - IST on 6E 017. I always has a preconceived notion that in-flight purchases were expensive. phew phew and I am part of travel for the last 20 years now 😜 well those European Carriers I flew on never gave me a chance to change my perception, until this morning. As I ate my morning meal and coffee ( ofcourse paid for by company) I was missing on my hourly cups of coffee ☕, i as ordered for an additional purchase i wasnt changed and again another one. To my curiousity i opened the menu just to realise the most appropriately priced meal & drinks combo pricing. I am totally convinced with the pricing it's fra more economical than a meal On-ground cheaper than an airport food court as well. Rs 400 For a Meal with Drinks ( Non Alcoholic) Rs 200 For a Snack with Drinks ( Non Alcoholic) ....and yeah an additional servicing of coffee isn't charged, unless you go the greedy way. The fading of an industry When I flew my first international flight, back in 1977, you could choose between two menus in the economy class even on short flights. During the 80s the infamous People's Express marked the beginning of the airline industry's decline. Deregulation, cowboy-style low-cost carriers, safety regulations, and cut-throat price wars diminished the prices and the service not only for the newcomers but also for well-known airline brands. Not to mention the extra climate effect of the exponential growth of air travel, mainly for recreational reasons. People today can not imagine what the air travel 40-50 years ago was.
