Education will be the main driver of AI’s growth and our eventual sea change in society. By learning to use AI for education and learning, we enhance anyone’s individual growth and also help them understand how to use AI in a constructive setting. This release is the next step for OpenAI, but it’s happening everywhere. If you want to learn to use AI, don’t just ask for “answers”, use AI to learn. Better yet, learn to learn with ai. The world needs some enlightenment. 👍

Despite battling an exhausting back pain due to a sports injury, I’m looking forward to speaking on AI and predictive analytics in research funding at the upcoming ARMA conference in Brighton (18th-19th June). The progress in AI tools is remarkable, and I'm particularly excited about ChatGPT Edu. This tool brings powerful AI features like data analysis, web browsing, and document summarisation to educational institutions. With enhanced language capabilities, security, and administrative controls, ChatGPT Edu promises to revolutionise how students, faculty, and researchers interact with AI. The educational landscape in universities is about to make a shift towards leveraging AI. Especially optimistic about the time and resources that will be saved from automated marking of assessments.

Per the announcement, "conversations and data are not used to train OpenAI models." This is an important detail for data from library resources. As more database vendors want to put AI clauses in their licenses, libraries can work to negotiate terms that allow data to be used with large language models (LLM) provided the data is not used to train the LLM. While most educational institutions have restricted the use of Generative AIs, here are some examples of how academic institutions can adopt generative AI. Working with generative AI will be a skill most companies look for in job applications and resumes. Exposing students to these generative AIs will help students gain these skills and develop them. They can help students understand complex concepts, improve their problem-solving skills, and provide tailored resources to enhance learning. While they may not be correct all the time, their accuracy and usefulness are continually improving and will be even more reliable in the future. I am looking forward to seeing how ChatGPT Edu will revolutionize the academic sector. Una iniciativa accesible e interesante a considerar dentro del desarrollo de proyectos educativos. A mi gusto con algo de retraso en liberarse ya que existen enormes oportunidades en la academia. En todo caso se vienen proyectos interesantes. An affordable and interesting initiative to consider within development of academia projects. To my mind, this project has some delay to be released due to the opportunities in academia. In any case, there will be great projects to come.

ChatGPT Edu appears to be an affordable AI solution for universities. Its advanced features, such as GPT-4o, data analysis, and customizable GPTs, offer significant potential for transforming learning, research, and campus operations. Leading universities like Oxford, Wharton, and ASU are already exploring its benefits. Therefore, it's worth considering how ChatGPT Edu could enhance our educational experience at Florida International University.

Another example of why we are being so clear about adopting postures that are flexible and BYOM (bring your own model). This is a very understandable but market shifting move from Open AI and almost certainly heralds things to come. If the best Silicon Valley product teams in the world are watching their capital burn every 6 months as the next wave hits, I don’t believe 99% of Australian enterprises should be investing heavily in their own models and they should be very careful with tooling.
