Learning from the brilliant Elle Whaley and Jordan Peck @ Snowplow about the variances and value of Client-Side Tracking vs. Server-Side Tracking has been a game-changer. 💡 One key takeaway: Server-Side Tracking is NOT the same as Server-Side Tagging. It makes sense, but it was a new realization for me—and one I won’t forget now! To help grasp the nuances, they shared a great analogy: think of measuring your own height. As someone who’s particularly short, I can promise I’d never fib about my height 😉—but if you want precise accuracy, you’d go for the server-side version. (pic 1) 💡 My Perspective: A hybrid approach often delivers the best of both worlds—using Client-Side Tracking for clickstream data and Server-Side Tracking for key metrics like purchases, revenue, leads, or content views. They also shared some useful integration tips (pic 2) and highlighted the benefits of combining approaches (pic 3). Overall, they delivered an outstanding presentation, packed with actionable insights and real-world examples (pic 4). This is one “vendor” session I genuinely appreciated. Thank you, Elle and Jordan, for sharing your expertise and providing such practical takeaways!
I was SO relieved when it became clear that they were talking about server-side TRACKING and not tagging, and actually knew what they were talking about!
