SoCalGas® and Colorado State University (CSU) invite you to a webinar to learn about the impact of hydrogen blending on natural gas (NG) engines. This webinar will be presented by Daniel B. Olsen who was the principal investigator for a recent research project carried out at CSU.

The K-12 STEM Center at USC Viterbi School of Engineering is proud to host exciting summer science camps, including SoCalGas's Energy of STEM camp. This intensive program caters for students from grades 3 through 12, with focus areas including green energy, forensics, electronics, coding, and mechanical design. SoCalGas provides the curriculum and construction materials for this program, along with employee volunteers including SoCalGas Research Development & Demonstration (RD&D), who assist students throughout the learning process Students can expect to acquire a broad set of skills, encompassing everything from soldering to the effective use of microscopes and mechanical tools. The majority of attendees hail from Title I schools, and we are committed to making this a positive and accessible opportunity for all, hence offering lunch, a t-shirt, materials, and guides to each participant. Thanks to SoCalGas's sponsorship, registration fees are fully covered, making this camp free for all participants.

Wondering how we can keep the lights on when the grid is down? Meet Mainspring Energy linear generator—a versatile potential solution to support California's carbon neutrality goals! This innovative technology uses a low-temperature reaction of air and fuel to generate electricity efficiently with low NOx emissions. What makes it special? It's fuel flexibility allows it to operate on natural gas and renewable fuels like hydrogen, making it potentially adaptable to various energy needs while maintaining low emissions. Recently demonstrated at a grocery store in Colton, California, this 230 kW generator—designed , installed, and integrated by Mainspring Energy—consistently achieved over 40% efficiency across different loads while meeting strict emissions standards set by the South Coast Air Quality Management District. This demonstration project received funding in part from both the California Energy Commission and SoCalGas Research Development & Demonstration (RD&D), supporting its successful implementation. Watch SoCalGas Research Development & Demonstration (RD&D) and Element Resources Inc discuss company-specific leak-based natural gas emission factors (EFs) for distribution customer meter facilities. These new EFs are more robust and comprehensive than those developed under prior industry studies, with greater precision and statistical confidence. The approach developed by the SoCalGas research team is also structured to take advantage of historic system data for trend analysis from past benchmark-year baselines. We're excited to share that SoCalGas RD&D's commitment to fostering innovation and technical education in Los Angeles has led to a remarkable season for the @H2GP teams we've sponsored.
