The decision to franchise was sparked by a trip to London, where the potential for national expansion became clear. This shift allowed us to maintain our commitment to quality while reaching children across the UK. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we not only adapted to new ways of engaging with our Soccer Stars, such as online classes, but also used this time to refine our franchise model with the help of industry experts. This strategic pivot has enabled Soccer Stars Academy to emerge stronger, offering entrepreneurial opportunities while continuing to impact children's lives positively. So a lot of people have asked us what our journey into franchising looked like and kind of why we decided to do a franchise model rather than just kind of run the classes ourself. And to be honest with you, we never ever started soccer stars initially to. Like we, we didn't know what the very beginning that we weren't that that was going to become this. We literally just started the classes for a little boy Louie. And it literally looked through arms and legs at that point because we realized that we weren't only parents. That's like had like a really shy child that wasn't very confident in social settings. And we realised that actually there's quite a bit of a demand for, for the classes. So when we started our first class. Our first venue and Airdrie and Chapel Hall within decided right. OK, well, maybe maybe we could expand this a little bit into like our wider local community. And we started then running classes in Coatbridge and then I think it was was it whistle after that? Yeah. So basically we we started there to worry in there for almost a year in classes really grew and it took me a year to eventually decide to start a second venue. And it's daunting having to bring another coach in to deliver your classes essentially and put your trust in them. But quite quickly that grew and then we opened their third venue and within probably about a year and a half with three venues open, all full waiting lists and things are going really well. That I suppose the real, the real kind of turning point with decided franchising was was a a trip to London, wasn't it, where myself and Shavon had went down to London on a trip and. A London wars, as you can imagine, super busy and lots of people going about their day-to-day business. And so it's and I just realized at that point that I didn't want to continue teaching. I wanted, I realised that soccer stars had an opportunity here to continue growing. And, and that was really at the point I decided I wanted to really focus on soccer stars and grow this into to the, the, the biggest and best brand that probably could be. So after a while. We had a chat and we sat down and thought what's the best way forward to be able to continue growing and franchising seeing the most. Reasonable and best option for us. And so yeah, I think I smell like at that point you, you, you do have that kind of moment saying right, well, maybe this could become a full time business. As we said, we didn't know that this was going to be like that when we when we first entered. That's kind of like Johnny bought. Then when it became right, OK, we could actually open up these classes to. Children throughout the UK, not just in our local community. It was actually it was around about the COVID just before COVID hat. And then that's when you left your job actually at that point because or the classes that we were running in Lanarkshire allowed Mark to be able to leave his job. And so at that point you had a lot of time that you could focus on the franchise aspect of things. Just prior to COVID. Differentially, I left my job, it was in the the January and then came obviously the marches. Everybody know COVID hit and everything shut down at that point, including our classes in the children's activity industry. Obviously, we had to pivot the business, create a lot of that point and a lot of stuff like a lot of the child's activity industry had to do is we had to deliver things via Zoom. Rather than just focus on doing Zoom stuff, are they even thought, no, giving me a lot more time to really focus on the franchise model and what's the best way forward for us and what type of model would we adopt? So I used that time during COVID to work with some experts in the, the franchise industry from the British Franchise Association and franchise lawyers, etcetera. And we built the, the business model for it and that's where the franchising. Business came about throughout the the COVID lockdown period. We it probably took six to eight months to finalize everything and agree on the model and everything else and put things into place with systems, et cetera. And then we launched our first franchise and yeah, that was that was a scary moment.

☘️ A STROKE OF GENIUS or a stroke of luck?! When you think about who would be the perfect person to guide prospects through the discovery phase in a football coaching business… …it’s Luke Chadwick! And here’s the story of how we ended up with the former Manchester United man leading our franchise recruitment. Jonny and I first met Luke at Cambridge United FC where we coached his kids and gained his involvement in the coaching programmes we were leading at the time. When Jonny left the club to join the FFF, Luke was also considering his future. Feeling despondent about the seriousness of Academy football, he was intrigued by our start-up franchise and what we stood for. Conversations about the values of coaching kids football led to Luke declaring his interest in joining Football Fun Factory as a franchisee. Little did we know when we launched our franchise business that our third Head Coach would be a Premier League winner! When the pandemic paused all operations, Luke being Luke, wanted to help and over the period where we couldn’t run our programmes he volunteered to support franchise recruitment. Jonny, Luke and I jumped on Zoom calls with football coaches as a trio and something magic happened… Lots of people wanted to join us! Once the challenge of Covid-19 passed, we were flying and it was no longer possible for Luke to lead his franchise and also continue to recruit franchisees, due to the high levels of demand. So we made him an executive director and gave him the remit of getting the Football Fun Factory to 100 Head Coaches. Four years later and we’re within touching distance of reaching this monumental goal. It’s been fantastic working alongside Luke over the past five years and the exciting part is, we’re only just getting started in terms of what can be achieved. So there we have it! Sometimes things just fall into place. It wasn’t brilliant planning that resulted in getting Luke in the right seat on the bus, it was simply fortuitous circumstances. ✍️ WRITING DOWN goals for the next 12 months! Or more what I think we will achieve. I am fully aware there are many apps & software that are more efficient & useful but I do love jotting down on pen & paper. At our recent Franchise Conference I wrote down what I think the Football Fun Factory® will achieve in the next 12 months. I’ve learnt so far in our journey that it’s probably not what I think it will be. We are so fast paced and dynamic at the FFF - I’m not sure what we will achieve. But I know it’ll be exciting & huge.
