headspace Ballina has officially opened its doors to young people in the community! Building on existing services previously offered through outreach from our parent headspace centre in Lismore, Social Futures will be operating headspace Ballina, providing a safe, welcoming space where young people can access youth-friendly supports. The day began with a beautiful welcome to country by Aunty Julia Paden, followed by speeches from The Hon. Emma McBride, Assistant Minister, The Hon. Justine Elliot MP, Assistant Minister, Monika Wheeler, CEO Healthy North Coast, Jason Trethowan, CEO headspace and Tony Davies, CEO Social Futures. A shoutout to Mia and Alice for their awesome performances and a special thanks to the MCs Simone Balzer, Senior Manager of Social Futures headspace and Leon McCann, Chair of headspace Lismore’s Young Peoples Advisory Committee. Thanks also to Evolve Constructions who did such a great job on the build! headspace Ballina is part of a national network of 167 centres working to provide early intervention mental health services to young Australians. This new service was made possible through funding from Healthy North Coast through the Australian Government’s Primary Health Network program. #headspace #Ballina #YouthMentalHealth
