TikTok are trialling 30 minute video upload options for selected users in the beta version of the app 🕒 This is potantially good news for advertisers as it will give you more opportunities to display ads in the middle of clips - which typically have higher engagement rates. ☝ TikTok announced huge changes for EU users TikTok’s implementing new changes for EU users in order to align with the EU Digital Services Act which is imposing new operating conditions to provide better user privacy. EU users will soon be able to turn off personalization in the app meaning their For You and Live recommendations will no longer be based on their activity and will instead base recommendations on where the user lives. 💁 Although this function will be optional, it could bring a serious change, and a potential drop-off in EU usage, as TikTok’s great success has come from their feed algorithm. ⚠️ The platform is also removing personalised advertising for users aged 13–17 and adding options allowing EU users to report any content that they may seem illegal. Important #TikTok divest-or-ban Bill update -- let's talk about it: Over the weekend, the House passed a second bill that now sits with the Senate. The bill essentially says that TikTok must be sold within a year (increased from 6 months proposed in a bill last month) to a buyer that satisfies the U.S. government. The sale would have to guarantee that ByteDance no longer has any control over TikTok or its algorithms that recommend content to users. If ByteDance cannot or refuses to sell TikTok, it would be unlawful for app stores and web hosting companies to distribute or update the app in the United States. The Justice Department could punish any company that works with TikTok or offers its app for download. However, a sale won't be simple.So what does this mean for your brand's TikTok strategy?
