If you understand your social value position, you can use it to propel your progress, maximise your positive impact and unlock competitive advantage. That's why we've introduced 3 packages designed to identify and dramatically shift your social value position. Each package moves you to a new level of social value maturity. And if you're thinking of becoming accredited, each package also aligns with the Social Value Quality Mark - the UK's national standard for social value. So what?, you might ask. Clients who are advanced on their social value journey tell us that: > They are winning bids and achieving higher scores in tenders. > They have greater credibility with investors and shareholders, with a stronger narrative about their impact. > Their culture has become more engaging, diverse and collaborative. > They have a deep understanding of how they create value for staff, customers and communities - which is in turn supporting sustainable growth. Not for the first time, today I listened to a client muse over whether they adopt a social value measurement methodology built for local authorities because it’s well known and has proxy values, or, the UK Social Value Model because it’s an actual government method. But why not avail of the best of both worlds - a measurement framework which is entirely built upon the SVM, incorporating all best practice guidance from HM Treasury, that also comes with a set of social value proxies which are updated every year 💡 The Inpact Evaluation Standard lets you have your cake and eat it when it comes to social value measurement with proxies and government alignment 🍰

Don't you think it's time we change our minds about what business should be? Growing up, business seemed synonymous with profit—nothing more, nothing less. Every side hustle I had in college was about one thing: making money. For the longest time, that was the sole aim of business. But times have changed. Today, the heartbeat of business is evolving. It's no longer just about the dollars we make; it's about the difference we make. When the UN unveiled its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, it wasn't just a plan—it was a call to action for people and the planet. This agenda, along with the rise of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards, has redefined what it means to be successful in business. We can no longer afford to do business unconsciously. Companies clinging to the old model, focusing only on profit, are finding themselves out of touch and out of favor. Stakeholders—customers, employees, investors—are demanding more. They want businesses to be a force for good, to create positive impacts in society and the environment. The choice is clear: adapt and inspire, or remain stagnant and be left behind. 📸 Pictured with the lovely Monicah Karanja #sustainability #sdgs #esg #business

Sustainability is about more than just the ‘E’ for environment. The 'S' in #ESG, representing social sustainability, is equally vital. The UN's Sustainable Development Goals and regulatory accountability have shifted focus towards transparency and action. Embracing social sustainability can help attract partners, boost morale, drive innovation, and improve financial performance, contributing to societal well-being and business sustainability. It’s the most magical time of year… Well, at least it is if you work in the social impact and CSR space 🙌 Because this is the time of year when we get to see all the amazing impact reports for 2023! 🚀 I will definitely be sharing some of my personal favorite impact reports in the coming weeks. However, I’ve been noticing some common shortcomings in impacting reporting… While many organizations strive to produce comprehensive and transparent social impact reports, there are a few common challenges and areas where these reports may fall short. ⚖️ Lack of Standardization: There is often a lack of standardized metrics and reporting frameworks across industries, making it challenging to compare the social impact of different organizations. This also leads to impact reporting feeling a bit more like a marketing tool than a true assessment tool. 💁♀️ Overemphasis on Positive Outcomes: Some reports may focus disproportionately on positive outcomes while downplaying or omitting negative social or environmental impacts. However, the negative (or unintended) impacts are usually the greatest teachers. 💸 Limited Integration with Business Strategy: Social impact initiatives may be disconnected from the organization's core business strategy, resulting in a lack of alignment and sustainability. I will die on the hill shouting, “Impact strategy (i.e., purpose) must be aligned with business strategy (i.e, profit). This is particularly true if you’re VC-backed, because investors will come for your impact program if budget cuts are required. That is, unless you can align your purpose and profit. 🌱 Greenwashing: In an effort to enhance their image, some organizations may engage in "greenwashing" or exaggerate their positive social and environmental impacts without substantial evidence. This isn’t news to anyone, but I’m seeing more brands slap “organic” on their product and check the sustainability box. There’s more work to be done here. 💬 Some of the other shortcomings include: limited scope, insufficient stakeholder involvement, inconsistent data quality, and a failure to address root causes. Want to hear more about these? Let’s connect and discuss! Social impact folks, what are some of YOUR biggest pet-peeves in impact reporting?
