✈️ Direct vs. indirect flights during the Olympics 🌍 With the Olympics nearly over, people who travelled to Paris for the games will soon be heading home. What is the cost for people travelling home? We investigated the price of direct vs. indirect flights to/from Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) during the Olympics period for some of the countries currently topping the medal table. We found that while direct flights from China, South Korea, and Japan are significantly more expensive compared to indirect flights with one layover, direct flights from the U.S. and Canada have much less of a premium compared to indirect flights. What factors could be driving these differences? Are North American travellers are more flexible? Is it because of remaining flight availability or the relative supply of direct to indirect flights? I'd love to hear your thoughts and insights on this! What do you think might be influencing these pricing trends? #AirfareAnalysis #Olympics2024 #TravelTrends #AviationIndustry #DataInsights

As people flock to pubs, bars, and restaurants, hospitality operators have a unique opportunity to boost their future success by making the most out of every customer who walks through their doors. As the Paris Olympics kick off, Wimbledon comes to a dramatic conclusion, and the Paralympics get ready to commence, 2024’s ‘Bumper Summer of Sport’ is just getting started. Just returned from exercising my right to #vote with an underwhelming feeling that I've never felt less engaged in any #election. It seems from Air France's substantial drop in share price and revenue warning, their bet on #Paris24 is going South fast and the World is not quite connected to what will go on in #Paris starting in less than a month. You have to love their #PR spiel when they say, “International markets show a significant avoidance of Paris.” The connection between my lack of interest in the #UKElection and Air France's financial woes may seem a bit of a stretch but an underlying issue for us all is there is just too much stuff going on, from geopolitics to all things sport and entertainment, bombarded at us by a rabid daily media cycle and insistent social media churn, that for a lot of us it becomes a challenge to focus on any one thing. That's before we even start to think of the dramas that go on in our personal and professional lives. For the sports industry and its fans, who are this week focused on the #Euros, #Wimbledon, #F1, #Rugby, #TourdeFrance, etc., there is little time for the #Olympics at the moment. Let's hope that will come sometime before July 26, but it is also why in all this clutter sports rights holders need to create meaningful differences to stand out from the crowd that actually excite people. Olympics Paris 2024: The impacts on major airports Paris 2024, reflecting the glamour of the 1924 Games, comes with a budget of nearly €9 billion, covering an operating budget of €4.4 billion and additional building projects. Initially aiming for €1.1 billion in domestic sponsorship revenue, the target was raised to €1.2 billion in 2022 due to a 10% budget increase. S&P Global reported that 95% of the venues are already built or need minor refurbishments, keeping the financial impact minimal compared to previous Olympics. The Paris Olympics, set for July 26 to August 11, with the Paralympics from August 28 to September 8, will see a surge in air travel. Paris Charles De Gaulle airport expects to handle 115,000 pieces of luggage, including 17,000 oversized items. To accommodate this influx, baggage systems have been upgraded, and the RATP will open the extended Line 14 to Orly Airport on June 23, enhancing public transport links. A no-fly zone over Paris will be enforced during the opening ceremony on July 26, affecting flights at major Paris airports. easyJet has canceled nearly 100 flights, impacting 18,000 passengers. Other airlines like Ryanair and Wizz Air have also adjusted their schedules. In response to increased demand, airlines such as Air France and Delta Air Lines are adding more flights and larger aircraft, with Air France increasing long-haul capacity by 9%. Travellers should prepare for busy airports and potential disruptions. August 12-14 will be particularly crowded, and strikes could impact flights. Arriving at the airport early is advised. As Paris gears up for the Olympics, stay informed and plan your travel early for a seamless journey during this grand event. More details: https://lnkd.in/dU2XsPCp
