Summer Research Symposium - Interesting, Inspiring, Collaborative! I had the pleasure this week to join Marc Reisch, President of Societe de Chimie Industrielle, at Columbia University in NYC. Talented undergraduate Chemistry students presented their summer research work at a symposium. The students were amazing, not only tackling challenging subjects in their projects (quantum technology and understanding the Ryedberg exciton states in cuprite; Kinetic effects of surface chemistry tuning on CdS nanocrystal photocatalyst; Photoredox catalysis of C-H bonds), but presenting the material and addressing questions from the audience. Furthering existing chemical processes with novel developments in synthesis of molecules, improved yields and costs will certainly create opportunities in materials, electrification and pharma applications. Vinicius, Erik and Andrew, Congratulations on your impressive work thus far.
