Transorbital approach opens portals in Keyhole NEUROSURGERY.
Transorbital approaches are in their relative infancy. However, they provide an exciting new avenue to expand the realm of keyhole approaches in Neurosurgery. In this particular case a transorbital approach was utilised to clip a middle cerebral artery aneurysm in a young adult. The approach can be performed with a 3 cm incision with absolute minimal brain manipulation. Whilst keyholes such as this can have a steep learning curve their advantage of minimising brain manipulation can translate to significantly faster and better recovery for patients.
