This cycle, many IMGs will be applying for the 2024-2025 match. I wanted to share a slide from Dr. Anudeep Yekula's recent presentation. It perfectly summarizes how we should focus on the things we can control without overthinking the ones we can't. All we can do is concentrate on what is within our control, do our best, and make the most of the opportunities we get.

Have you ever come across a LinkedIn post where CEOs or VPs offer words of encouragement to the boots on the ground, saying all it takes is determination and drive? While it's inspiring, it leaves me with some questions. As someone who doesn't have a degree, I wonder how companies are helping their employees climb the corporate ladder. Is there anything other than going back to college or university to get a degree? Are there any programs to encourage and assist candidates to take that step? It's unfortunate that many people, including myself, are overlooked or not even considered for higher positions because of our lack of higher education. Let's start a conversation about this and see what we can do to help those who are not suited for a higher education environment but still want to achieve their career goals. #CorporateLadder #NoDegreeNeeded #CareerGrowth Kuddos to Quanta for this!!! 💯💯
Your degree isn’t what moves you up at Quanta (…or RPCS). Its your heart, desire, passion to learn, your grit, that moves you up. Here it is from Duke, our CEO. There is no ceiling https://lnkd.in/ghz_mVBr

I must confess: "Do what you love, the money will come" was the worst career advice I ever got. I've had many careers that I've loved, but that money's been taking a long, long time to show up. So what advice would I give instead? I'll be leading a session at the Michigan Association of College Admissions Counselors conference in just a couple weeks on how to measure what your college major is worth in the marketplace. I'll be pointing my colleagues to the many free, easily accessible data resources that can help students and families get a better grasp of a college degree's cost vs benefit in dollar terms. Am I advising students to avoid doing what they love? Of course not. But at least you can go into your chosen field of study with one eye on your bottom line.
