City Hospital Housing Complex-Façade Design Development.  I am very excited to share the City Hospital Housing Complex in #Doha, #Qatar. This project highlights the crucial role of sketching in shaping architectural solutions that are both functional and aesthetic. 🏛✏️ Tasked with designing a cost-effective facade for 20 buildings, I relied on sketching to explore ideas that blended tradition with modernity. Inspired by the silhouette of traditional Qatari houses, the design transitions from darker to lighter shades, creating an impression of lightness. Six houses are arranged in an "A" shape, with three houses on each arm and the top part used as a retail space, inspired by Indian streets that foster community interaction. + The houses reflect traditional Indian town architecture, featuring angans (courtyards) as central spaces for ventilation, natural light, and connection to nature. + The courtyards, similar to those in havelis or wadas, serve as multifunctional spaces for daily activities and social gatherings. + Front decks and porches, akin to the otla or verandah, act as transitions between public and private areas. + At the center of the arrangement is a pond, designed for passive cooling . This design blends sustainability, cultural heritage, and practicality, fostering a community-focused and nature-integrated living environment.
