Board of Directors at The Global Nerve Foundation; Consultant Peripheral Nerve Surgeon; HaPPeN Research Lead
Congratulations to Suzanne Beale, Research Occupation Hand Therapist, Chris McGhee and the rest of the team at HaPPeN plus our international collaborators Gilad Rotem, Liron Duraku MD Ph.D., Mark van der Oest, on this latest publication. The SCOPING study was evaluating a Series of Clinical Observational Parameters Indicative of Nerve Regeneration. How much confidence do you place in Tinel's sign. Is the tender muscle squeeze sign predictive of motor recovery? Is the differential Tinel a useful sign? Can thermographic imaging demonstrate normalisation of temperature differentials as autonomic recovery progresses in the hand....and does autonomic recovery predict sensory recovery? All this and more in this pilot paper accepted for PRS global Open. Below is a series of clinical thermal images from injury to 6 months after repair demonstrating normalisation of cutaneous temperature differentials.

It was a privilege to learn directly from the developer of the Trial Sequential Analysis (TSA) from the Copenhagen Trial Unit (CTU). Thanks to Charles for this rare opportunity! As with any statistical tools, a fool with a tool is still a fool. This paper clearly shows that TSA is used incorrectly in many published systematic review and meta analysis. We must be careful with the conclusion of these results. Further, this also remind ourselves to be vigilant with our analysis and seek experts verification if unsure. #METSA #Copenhagentrialunit #trialsequentialanalysis #tsa
I am excited to share our latest paper, which sheds light on the misuse and “abuse” of Trial Sequential Analysis (TSA). I had the privilege of learning directly from Professor Christian Gluud, the developer of this technique, who has generously shared his extensive knowledge of TSA and its technical nuances. This collaboration with the Copenhagen Trial Unit has been an incredibly enriching experience, filled with learning, camaraderie, and even moments of laughter. This paper marks the beginning of the METSA project, with more publications that will guide the proper conduct and reporting of TSA. Congratulations to my colleague Eugene Przespolewski PharmD BCOP DPLA and Clinical Services Director Grazyna Riebandt, PharmD, BCOP for this recent publication shedding light on the challenges faced by Oncology Residency Program Directors (ORPDs) regarding protected administrative time and burnout. I have read a couple of studies about burnout among pharmacists lately. This study suggested that ASHP Residency Standards may not be meeting the needs of ORPDs, with 50.8% feeling that the current standard falls short. Only 5.2% of ORPDs had budgeted protected time as well as financial incentives. Fifty percent of respondents saying protected time was the most important change in improving well-being. The findings underscore the need for greater support and incentives for ORPDs. #Healthcare #ResidencyTraining #WellBeing #Burnout
