At Society6, we always strive to put local artists in the spotlight. 📍⭐ ️We are proud to announce our new content series with KPRC's Houston Life, an afternoon local talk show passionate about celebrating the greater Houston area. This collaboration puts a spotlight on our talented Texas-based Society6 artists, giving them a platform to showcase their creativity to their wider community. This is the beginning of an ongoing series, so stay tuned for more artist spotlights and inspiring stories. We kicked things off with artist and lifelong Houstonian, Tina Salazar. From creating large-scale murals to designing unique clothing and pieces for the home, her art beautifully captures the essence of Houston and celebrates her Latina heritage. We're proud to make her work, and the work of 450,000+ independent artists, available worldwide on Society6.com. Discover Tina and more Texas-based artists on Society6: https://lnkd.in/gawermzQ Check out the full feature here: https://lnkd.in/gxkc7ga3 #SupportLocalArtists #HoustonArtists #Society6Artists

Municipal Affairs at COA - Partnering with municipalities and transit authorities to provide cost-free infrastructure.
This is a fun way to feature local artists and increase ridership!❤️ Does your city need some help? Is your city's bus stop situation stuck in the Stone Age? We're talking benches older than Mick Jager, paint falling faster than Taylor Swift’s boyfriends, then it's time for a major makeover, my friend. Benches are not just a convenience; they're a bridge to a more equitable transportation system. The elderly, pregnant women, people with disabilities – all deserve a place to sit and wait with dignity. A lack of accessible seating at bus stops is a major barrier to public transit use for people with disabilities, according to the NCDJ. COA offers cost-free and maintenance-free bus bench programs that benefit municipalities and their citizens. With our innovative solutions, municipalities can enhance their public transportation infrastructure without any financial burden or ongoing maintenance costs. Multi-award winning pro-democracy activist | Founder of Project Vote 263& Africa Network for Democracy| Expert on Elections| Democracy, Governance |Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni| blogger |Political Scientist
Arts can be a powerful tool for shaping narratives in society, as demonstrated by the recent success of comedian Nigel's skit for Project Vote 263. In just 5 days, the video has reached over 19,000 viewers on YouTube and over 23,000 on Facebook. This highlights the potential for creative arts, particularly comedy, to simplify complex democracy and governance principles and make them more accessible to citizens. It's clear that there is a continuous need for organizations working in governance and democracy to incorporate creative arts into their efforts to promote civic engagement in society. Let's continue to explore the possibilities of using arts for governance! #ArtsForGovernance

George Kekatos, Senior Cultural Strategist, took part in the Public Policy Exchange webinar 'Promoting the Cultural and Creative Industries' yesterday, bringing together policy makers, cultural leaders, strategists and academics to discuss the role of #culture, the #creativeindustries and #placemaking in delivering #socialvalue for communities. Read his post below to find out more about Futurecity's 'Gallery Without Walls' approach to culture-led collaboration and partnerships and its transformative power for cities. #GalleryWithoutWalls #culturalplacemaking #PublicPolicyExchange #policymakers #culturalcity #Futurecity
It was a pleasure to contribute to yesterday's webinar, 'Promoting the Cultural and Creative Industries', organised by the Public Policy Exchange. An honour to be talking amongst such an esteemed and interesting panel, Michele Gregson FRSA of National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD), Tarek E. Virani of University of the West of England, Glyndwr Jones and Emily Maloney of CDMT - confirming quality in Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre and Deborah Annetts of the Independent Society of Musicians. Talking about a 'Gallery without Walls' and the power of #culture and the #creativeindustries within our Cities – I gave examples of different scales and areas, through our projects at Futurecity, of how we can enable cross-sector collaboration and create #socialvalue for communities. Using the arts & culture and #placemaking as a key, we can ensure a slow but steady change in the norms and bring original ideas and genuinely transformative experiences in our cities.
