Back to school is just around the corner! Our kids have probably enjoyed their holidays with lots of treats and fun. i.e plenty of snacks, endless screen time, and more sugar than I'd care to count! A packed out chapel for a Food As Medicine Seminar I hosted in Detroit, MI! My goal has always been to provide health education to those who need it most, because they have the most to gain. You'd be surprised just about fundamental nutrition strategies that people just don't know. Like the types of carbohydrates you should be eating as a diabetic and what kids to avoid. How damaging soda intake can be, even if it's labeled as diet. How incorporating more plants into the dishes you already eat can reduce your risk of certain cancers, dementia, and cardiovascular disease (people can get overwhelmed with challenging them to a plant based diet as their first step). Lifestyle practices that individuals and families can do to lengthen their disease free life. And many other additional easy but profound nutrition and lifestyle changes. Thats why the first unit in my corporate wellness program is the fundamentals of food as medicine, that way everyone is on the same page as we journey to better health. #foodasmedicine #corporatewellness
