It's here! The 2023 edition of 'Citizen reporting in the UK'. 🗞️ The report seeks to help local government and other public authorities stay attuned to current trends around citizen reporting of local problems and better understand changing expectations. This year's edition explores user data from the UK's national reporting service, FixMyStreet, to build and analyse a profile of the UK’s current, active, report-making citizens. Download the report to learn: 💭 Who are the people voluntarily making reports about local issues – and who is missing? 💭 When and where do people make reports? 💭 What other existing research and analysis can support our understanding of the issues raised in the report? + more... A thought-provoking read for your Friday morning from our managing director Angela Dixon, who, in thinking about the future of SocietyWorks has been taking a trip back in time to understand more about our parent charity mySociety's past. She wants to know how do you define failure in the civic tech space, and what can we learn from it? "Were [the services we no longer run, which were used by multitudes of citizens, sometimes globally] failures, if failure is to be defined as no longer in existence and no longer having impact?" Grab a cuppa and take a few minutes: https://lnkd.in/eJY68skx #CivicTech #DigitalEngagement #Society #TechForGood #PublicServices

Digital transformation always needs people power 🤝🧑💻🚀 As a provider of digital solutions that support service area transitions in the public sector, we know just how important it is to have a team of people taking that journey with you. If your people are not on board, the road ahead will be bumpy at best and lead to a dead end at worst. Our Head of Product Bekki Leaver spoke about this exact topic at #LocalGovCamp last month, where she shared advice on how to use the transition curve framework to lead people through change and help them to successfully navigate transformation. There's a lovely blog post by Nick Hill on the Public Sector Digital Transformation Forum website that recaps the take-homes from LocalGovCamp and links to slides from the sessions, including Bekki's. Have a read for yourself here: https://lnkd.in/emQcaMvP And if you would like any support with creating digital transformation and improving interactions with citizens across a variety of service areas, you can contact us here: https://lnkd.in/driHyPH #DigitalTransformation #TransitionCurveFramework #PublicServices #LocalGov

Unnecessary reports ❌ Receiving reports of street and highway problems that you already know about is an avoidable drain on resources for councils and other public bodies. Over the last 17 years we've worked with our FixMyStreet Pro customers to co-develop lots of functionality to help prevent unnecessary reporting, build trust and improve the user experience. Explore how FixMyStreet Pro does this in our new blog post: https://lnkd.in/eJVbfG9m Or get in touch for a live demo: https://lnkd.in/driHyPH #LocalGov #Highways #PublicSector #DigitalTransformation #CustomerService #PublicServices

We've also got lots of info about using open standards to connect to mySociety's national FixMyStreet service for free so that reports drop into your backend system(s), not into your inbox. See you there! If you can't make it, but you want a chat about any of the above, drop us a message and we'll get back to you: https://lnkd.in/driHyPH #Highways #LocalGov #PublicSector #DigitalTransformation Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG)
