The Youth Grow Activity (YGA) is an innovative five-year (2023-2028) project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is implemented by Q2 Impact and its partners. YGA aims to empower youth in Jordan by emphasizing the need for positive youth development (PYD), not only for youth themselves but for society at large. The YGA focuses on three core objectives: (1) preparing youth for economic opportunities through providing access to high-quality online career counseling and entrepreneurship information; (2) strengthening youth leadership through targeted support of local youth-led organizations (YLO) and youth-serving organizations (YSO) and (3) strengthening Government of Jordan (GoJ) systems to guarantee effective youth participation, create youth-inclusive and enabling environment, and enhance the accessibility and quality of government systems and services to better cater for youth social and economic empowerment.
In partnership with the Ministry of Youth, the YGA launches the Youth Initiatives Hackathon, which aims to present solutions and services contributing to resolving societal issues affecting young people in Jordan, aged between 10 - 29 years. The hackathon includes an opportunity to develop and improve initiative ideas through training and mentorship. Exceptional initiatives will be selected through a specialized judging committee.
YGA seeks qualified mentors to provide guidance and support to youth groups in the development of their technical, financial, and implementation plans for their initiatives. If you are interested or someone who might be interested, please visit the below link

On the eve of the UN's International Day for Women and Girls in ICT, I had the honor of appearing as a guest on Voice of America Deewa's show - Bibi Shireena!
As the world advances with Industry 5.0, a spotlight shines on the Pashtoon women of Pakistan and Afghanistan. These courageous women are overcoming numerous challenges to make their mark in the field of ICT.
The modern world demands innovative approaches to problem-solving and equipping people with the right skills to join the dynamic workforce. Our KP Women Civic Digital Internship Program is a prime example of such innovation. Addressing mobility issues, cultural barriers, lack of daycare centres, transportation challenges, and skill gaps, this women-only remote internship program is a collaboration between Code for Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB), and The World Bank, with support from Ufone 4G and Zong CMPak Ltd. The two cycles of the program have achieved a 94% graduation rate and nearly a 50% employment rate within the first year of completion!
These brave Pashtoon women, whether they are daughters, sisters, wives, or mothers, hailing from remote districts such as Dir, Buner, Upper & Lower Chitral, Mohmand Agency, and Orakzai Agency, have embarked on a journey of self-improvement and empowerment as they enter the ICT workforce.
As these women defy challenges to enter the workforce and empower their communities, it becomes a shared responsibility of policymakers, community mobilizers, technology leaders, and hiring experts to design inclusive policies that address their unique challenges.
Tune in to my discussion with VoA Deewa to hear more about the challenges faced by Pashtoon women and the support they can receive from individuals, communities, women role models, and policymakers!

Prioritizing Employment for Gaza's Youth is a Must!
Amidst the ongoing suffering and relentless warfare targeting an entire generation of young men and women in Gaza, all institutions, whether in Gaza or online companies, must intensify their efforts to recognize and value the efforts, education, capabilities, and potential of these young people.
Over the past years, Gaza's youth have proven to the world that they possess creative and remarkably adaptable minds. The number of certificates, courses, experiences, and volunteer work they undertake in their quest for job opportunities and self-affirmation exceeds all expectations.
Acknowledging and supporting the youth of Gaza is not just a necessity; it is a moral obligation that cannot be overlooked.
Heritage Day in South Africa is a celebration of our nation’s vibrant cultural diversity. At Cornerstone Performance Solutions, we believe that education is a powerful tool in shaping a better future for all South Africans. Education plays a crucial role in fostering inclusivity, open-mindedness, and respect for our nation’s diverse backgrounds. By providing access to knowledge and skills, we empower individuals to contribute meaningfully to their work and their broader communities.
This Heritage Day, let’s remember that education is not just about what we learn—it’s about how we learn to engage with the world around us. Through education, we can build bridges across different cultures, grow in understanding, and contribute to a more united South Africa.
Happy Heritage Day, South Africa! Let’s celebrate our diversity and embrace the future through learning.

Young entrepreneurs: start-up founders, or teams of young people or individuals where at least one of the founders and most of the team are younger than 35 years old.
Project submissions were made through a WSA dedicated platform according to the Award rules and conditions, which were set and revised by the Award steering committee. A jury of experts from the Arab region evaluated the submissions, and the Award winners were announced during a special session of the 2024 annual Arab Forum for Sustainable Development on 5 March 2024.
