⏱️ Timber Systems: Driving Efficiency in Construction The ability to build faster without compromising quality is a significant advantage of structural timber systems. For example, timber-frame homes can be made weather-tight up to 10 weeks faster than masonry builds, allowing critical internal works to begin sooner. This faster programme reduces site costs, improves cash flow, and creates better project outcomes. Our Guide to Commercial Viability outlines these time and cost efficiencies in detail, providing practical insights for developers and contractors. 📖 Access the guide here: https://bit.ly/3PvDRJd

🗞️ An interesting read here from Des Duddy on the future of Modular Construction. "Modular construction is on a completely different playing field in terms of pipeline and production compared with traditional construction, with modular being associated with rapidly building thousands of homes versus the slower and smaller scale of traditional building projects." A Practicing Engineer’s Approach to Wood-Framed Type III Construction By Jared S. Hudson, PE, and Shaun M. Kreidel, SE Light frame wood construction is often a desired construction method for low-rise multifamily structures due to readily available labor and materials, speed of construction, sustainability, and relatively low construction costs. A Type V construction classification as defined by the International Building Code (IBC) is commonplace for these structures; however, this construction type is limited to four stories of stacking wood construction. A Type III construction classification allows conventional wood-framed structures to include an additional level, bringing the allowable height to five stories above grade; see Figure 1 for an example of this type of construction.
