According to the SC Dept. of Commerce, this $16 million investment will create 12 new jobs with the 9,000-square-foot #expansion. The Oconee facility produces component parts for Absorbent Glass Mat #batteries used in new #automotivetechnology - including hybrid and #EV. Yet another example of #manufacturing growth in the south.

🌟Journey of Courage and Truth: My Story of Resilience🌟 At 44, I've found the courage to share a story I've hidden for decades. As one of the twelve girls at the Coke County Juvenile Justice Center in the '90s, my journey has been one of pain, silence, and eventual empowerment. This story isn't just mine. It's about Sara Lowe and many others who suffered in silence. Lured by promises of rehabilitation at Wackenhut's facility, we faced a reality far from what was pledged. Abuse, neglect, and a system that turned a blind eye - this was our truth. I was silenced once with money at 19, but the temporary glamour of wealth quickly faded, leaving me to confront the deeper scars of my experience. The loss of my best friend, who named my daughter, to suicide on the day of our lawsuit victory, was a turning point. It underscored a harsh reality: our fight was never about money; it was about justice and acknowledgment. Today, I stand to tell our story, not just for me but for Sara, who tragically couldn't bear the weight of her unacknowledged pain. It's a reminder that behind every corporate facade, there are human lives at stake. And while those responsible may not have faced consequences, our voices can now be heard. This post is more than a narrative of past woes; it's a call for accountability, change, and the protection of the innocent. Let's ensure no other child endures what we did. The Acuerdo de Paz model is a testament to the potential of restorative justice. Let's emulate this success throughout Puerto Rico, addressing the root causes of violence. This means dismantling institutional racism, providing top-tier education, improving public transportation, ensuring quality healthcare, and fostering economic opportunities. Reading about the progress made in Los Angeles is a source of inspiration. The Watts truce of 1992, a groundbreaking peace agreement between rival gangs, led to a remarkable 44% drop in gang-related murders in the area within the first two years. Aqeela Sherrills, a key negotiator of this truce, shares his extraordinary journey from Watts to the forefront of community-based public safety efforts, even collaborating with the White House on preventing gun violence.
