The project includes the addition of new spaces designed to enrich visitor experiences and support the museum's educational mission. These new spaces will include exhibits, interactive learning centers, and expanded galleries showcasing the rich history of maritime culture. The expansion also plans to incorporate community spaces for events and educational programs, solidifying the museum's position as a cultural cornerstone in New Bedford, MA. Located in Vatican City, St. Peter’s Basilica is over 400 years old, and is one of the most well-known churches in the world revered for its breathtaking Renaissance and Baroque architecture. Famous architects like Michelangelo and Bernini contributed to the design of the church, which took over 100 years to complete. This makes the connection between the architecture and the exhibit a crucial matter, as the architect is tasked with designing not only the framework and background of the exhibited arts or artifacts but also taking charge of the journey undertaken by the visitor, harmonizing the cultural gain with the lived spatial experience of walking the exhibition halls. However, not all museums have been purposely built for this task. Across Europe, museums are being organized within or expanding upon historical monuments and buildings that have lost their original purpose. Then in a state of decay, this decision to reorganize them as cultural venues stops the decay and preserves the historical material, adding a new layer of complexity to the intended exhibits. Arting Every Day – Wendland Digital Art Urban Abstraction from the Boston Lo-Fi Series - This piece from my Digital Art Series was born from a process of extrapolating and merging multiple photographs I took as part of the Boston Lo-Fi Series, each one capturing the raw energy of Boston's urban core. The digital abstraction transforms a familiar city alley into a layered, almost dreamlike environment—where rigid architectural forms soften and blend, creating a new kind of space where reality and imagination blur. Through the use of a monochromatic palette, I aimed to evoke the quiet, almost haunting feeling of these empty spaces. The absence of people, paired with the cold, grayscale tones, captures the sense of urban isolation that we all feel at times. There's a tension here—the familiar shapes of a city reduced to abstraction, yet still unmistakably Boston. It's a reflection of what it means to navigate the modern city: a balance between structured order and emotional depth, between the known and the unknown.
