The Low-Income Communities Bonus Credit has helped more Americans access the benefits of solar + storage. However, the proposed changes starting in 2025 will disincentivize storage adoption, undercutting key equity and reliability benefits. “As electricity demand soars, we should focus on removing barriers to solar and storage adoption, not adding them," said Abby Hopper, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association. “The proposed changes to the Low-Income Communities Bonus Credit in 2025 disincentivize storage adoption, missing an important opportunity to boost grid reliability and support the people and communities impacted by environmental injustice. Happy 100th Birthday to solar champion, President Jimmy Carter. In 1979, Carter installed 32 #solar panels on the White House roof, saying “Solar energy will not pollute our air or water. We will not run short of it. No one can ever embargo the Sun or interrupt its delivery to us. But we must work together to turn our vision and our dream into a solar reality.” This historic gesture helped move the U.S. toward energy independence and paved the way toward our clean energy future.
