In fintech the gender diversity ratio is skewed. In our company too, the gender diversity ratio is skewed but against the trend. We have more women than men in our growing team at Fixerra. But it’s not just about the numbers. Our core functions from business to product to technology to HR to compliance are all led by able women and we are proud to be trend setters here. The best part is- we haven’t done so by design but by default 😃 #happywomensday #womeninfinance #fintech #womenintechnology #teambonding

The Fintech industry is built on two of the most heavily male-dominated industries, thus accelerating the #genderinequity in the sector, with marked #paydisparity amongst men and women in the industry catalyzing inequity. With only 30% women in the #fintechindustry and 10% in leadership roles, there is accelerated need to enable #capacitydevelopment of #womeninfintech and targeted opportunity creation at an institutional level. Happy INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY (MARCH 8)! For the final part in our #AlexWomen profile series, we spoke to Alex.Bank board member Kathy Ostin who shared some of her incredible experiences as a woman in leadership and gave us her take on #IWD2024. Enjoy her short Q&A below! ... *Kathy Ostin, what's your favourite thing about being on the Board of Alex.Bank?* 👉 Alex.Bank is at the forefront of digital banking - creating a frictionless customer experience in banking is leading edge. This is the way banking should be experienced by everyone. **What does International Women's Day mean to you?** 👉 For me, IWD is about how far women have come in the corporate environment and in society, and yet how much work there is still do to in this area. Reflecting on the changes in workplaces and in the community since I embarked on my career 30 years ago, huge steps forward have been made to achieve gender equality. I want to see this continue and would like to close out my career in the knowledge that my daughters will not have the same challenges, whether that’s at work or in the home. *What advice would you give to women aspiring to pursue leadership roles?* 👉 Push ahead, have confidence in your abilities and go for it. Women have a tendency to suffer from “imposter syndrome” more than men do and it holds them back as they second guess themselves. There are many incredible women in leadership roles that are an inspiration - from the well known to those in your own environments. Reach out and talk to a woman you admire for any tips, advice, mentoring, assistance. So many women are willing to help others into these roles. We need diverse leadership styles to make the work environment more inclusive. **How do you balance your professional and personal life, and what strategies do you use to prioritise self-care?** 👉 This has always been a balancing act for me, particularly after having kids. I wanted to do it all, and have learnt with time that it is crucial to prioritise health and wellbeing over some aspects of my life. I exercise almost every morning (sometimes kid priorities don’t let me achieve this!) - exercise clears my head and sets me up well for each day. I also enjoy socialising - with family, friends and work colleagues - which provides connectedness. I now also prioritise getting enough sleep every night and not burning the candle at both ends. **What opportunities do you hope to see for women entering banking/finance in the future?** 👉 I absolutely want to see equality in the opportunities offered to women entering banking/finance in the future - relating to ongoing culture shifts, elimination of the gender pay gap, flexible work arrangements, and sponsorship of women through the organisation/industry, to name a few. It’s important to have a work environment in banking/finance that retains and promotes women. I want to see more women in leadership roles, C-suite roles and on boards.
