I agree with Bruce. This diagram is a nice diagram but the automated controls are critical for being able to respond to dynamic Price and it is dispatchable precisely by a new price but also since you need to be connected to a Price signal, that means you’re connected, and if you’re connected, you can do all kinds of further values, for example, less than 2% of buildings are connected to the Internet, so there’s 98% of building machines in those buildings that can’t be automated or dispatched until they’re connected and then they can do it all. So the highly dynamic Price on the left is the one that enables everything because of the connectivity AND the good data and smart response control you get with modern two way connectivity.
Demand Flex Experts: If you’re also a bit confused about the blurry lines between DR and VPPs, this is my attempt to clarify. What do you think about this framework? Any feedback is appreciated. (You can also DM me if you prefer) Notice those 4 characteristics on this figure under the Venn diagram. Some examples of implementations for these groups would be: Group A: SoCalEdison’s real-time tariff for industrial customers Group B: ev.energy pilot with Marin Clean Energy (features predictive algorithms for EV charging) Group C: Voltus customers in DR contracts (manual participation) Group D: Valley Clean Energy’s AgFIT pilot Group E: Voltus customers in DR contracts with automated devices

39% of battery revenues have come from the capacity market so far in 2024, compared to only 21% across all of 2023. The GB BESS index now includes capacity market revenue so you can more accurately measure your battery revenues against the market. Don't worry - if you want to see the index without the capacity market included, you can toggle "Include long-term contracts" off in the settings at the top right of the index page and the numbers will update. https://lnkd.in/e-S5PgZ7

This is comforting analytical affirmation of expected benefits increasing with broader participation by firm count and geography. It should be no wonder that discussion in my first pre-Day 2 MISO meetings circa 2003 was whether to start with a MISO-SPP or MISO-PJM or MISO-PJM-SPP (joint and common) market because individual regional markets would leave efficiency gains on the table. Maybe Day 2 market developments in the West will revive such discussion in the East.
We simulated five alternative EDAM and Markets+ footprint in the Western power grid! Not surprisingly (1) all five of the analyzed market participation scenarios offer significant benefits relative to the status quo case and (2) the largest customer savings occur in when the largest share of the region participates in the same market. Finally, the long awaited decision. This provides the go for the go live of the first Intraday flow based calculation for the core region in may 2024, just one month before IDAs (which will benefit also of the ID recalculation of the capacity)
💡 ACER amends the methodology for #electricity intraday flow-based capacity calculation in the Core region. 📌 In April 2023, the regulatory authorities of the Core #CapacityCalculationRegion referred to ACER two proposals from the Transmission #SystemOperators (TSOs) to amend the Core region’s Intraday #CapacityCalculation Methodology (Core ID CCM). After extensive discussions with Core TSOs and #RegulatoryAuthorities, and having consulted with stakeholders in summer 2023, ACER has decided to approve the proposals, with some amendments ✔ What are the amendments about? The TSOs have proposed two amendments with the following objectives: 👉🏽 Ensure the methodology aligns with the parallel regional operational #SecurityCoordination (ROSC) process. 👉🏽Temporarily introduce the Available Transfer Capacity (ATC) as an additional validation solution (on top of the flow-based validation) to check the amount of electricity that can be safely traded across borders. By approving these amendments, ACER will facilitate the first implementation of intraday flow-based capacity calculation in #Europe ⚡ This will enhance the efficiency of the intraday #ElectricityMarket in the #CoreRegion and its further alignment with the #CongestionManagement process. What are the next steps? The first intraday flow-based capacity calculations are to be implemented by early July 2024 📅 Read more 👇🏽 https://lnkd.in/dzCUWQ5t

Navigating the dynamic energy landscape in 2024 demands a strategic blend of innovation and reliability. That's why we've designed our protection devices to comply with international grid codes and offer the highest possible availability of your power systems. We have achieved that through integrating seamless Interconnection and robust Mains Decoupling functionality. 1️⃣Interconnection allows for the bidirectional flow of electricity between the decentralized sources and the grid. This integration helps balance energy demand and supply, optimize resource utilization, and enhance the overall efficiency and reliability of the power systems. 2️⃣Mains Decoupling is essential for maintaining a stable power supply. When faults occur in the grid, such as short circuits or other disturbances, mains decoupling allows decentralized power sources to continue operating independently. This helps prevent the spread of faults to the decentralized system and ensures a reliable power supply to critical loads. By utilizing both Interconnection and Mains Decoupling, we can achieve: ✅ High Availability: Uninterrupted power supply, resilient to grid fluctuations ✅ Efficiency: Bidirectional energy flow optimizes resource utilization ✅ Reliability: Fault-isolation capabilities enhance reliability of power infrastructure ✅ Sustainability: Seamless integration of renewables into the power system Our protection devices embody a commitment to a resilient energy future. Join us in shaping the future of decentralized energy systems. https://lnkd.in/eMu_Fjfj Storage and Interconnectors policy to align!!! 💕 a good Cap and Floor 😁 Long Duration Storage likely to go under a Cap and Floor scheme similar to GB interconnectors. Exciting for this segment of the market as this has been very effective for the development of large scale independent interconnectors with similar revenue stack certainty issues.
