Site visit: Europe's biggest hybrid solar-hydro project Enlit on the Road headed Portugal to visit the Alqueva project, a unique hybrid power plant that combines floating solar energy production with hydropower production. They spoke to Pedro Oliveira from EDP Geração about the Projects goals and key innovations. Alqueva stands out for its pioneering approach to hybridisation. It's not just about combining solar and hydro: it's about intelligent management. The project serves as a real-world testing ground for the complementarity between renewable energy production and storage technologies. Here's how it achieves this: • The photovoltaic plant, batteries, and hydro are integrated into an intelligent management system; • The battery storage, with a capacity of around 2MWh, reinforces the project's innovative nature by allowing EDP to explore hydro-solar complementarity; • The battery uses mature lithium-ion technology, a proven and widely used solution in the global electricity sector. A big thank you to Aurora Energy Research, Frederik Beelitz and my brilliant co-planelists Steffen Schülzchen, Kilian Leykam and Ilona Dickschas for this exciting panel on a hot topic. In my opinion, there was great consensus that ◾ the storage industry can and will mix the green with the gray. The metering technology is in place and we are waiting for the signal from the Federal Network Agency. ◾ BESS are better than any other asset at preventing redispatch. However, they are not taken into account in the current 13k market design. ◾ BESS must have a firm place in the long-term scenarios of the Federal Ministry of Economics.  ◾ the regulatory hurdles for BESS should be addressed by Solar Package II and the BNetzA before the end of this legislative period. Let's hope that we'll be quite a bit further along with the next Aurora summit.

🟡 SKALA Partners acquires the rights to a large-scale solar energy project in Norway Stockholm, 11 June 2024 – SKALA Partners announces today that the company has acquired the rights to a large-scale solar energy project. The project is located in Norway in electricity area NO2 and is in an early development phase. When the project is in operation, the project will have a capacity of approx. 15 MW and is estimated to contribute sustainable energy to approximately 1 100 households.   The acquisition is an important step in SKALA's journey towards becoming a leading player in renewable energy in the Nordics. Until 2029, SKALA intends to have a portfolio of projects in development and operation totalling 1.8 GW in renewable energy.   “We are very happy to finally be able to communicate that we have secured our first project in Norway, which is the first of many more projects to come. @Frontier Energy Ltd (ASX:FHE, OTCQB:FRHYF) CEO Adam Kiley joins Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with details of a definitive feasibility study (DFS) for the company's Waroona Renewable Energy Project, 120 kilometres south of Perth in Western Australia.
