Global renewable energy capacity has grown by 415% since 2000, increasing from 0.8 to 3.9 TW. China alone has contributed 1.4 TW, surpassing the combined capacity growth of Africa, Europe, and North America. Many large and wealth regions, such as Europe and the United States, have displayed below-average annual growth in renewable capacity. Using the latest data release from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Decarbonization Channel and the National Public Utilities Council created this chart to depict different regions’ contributions to the growth of renewable energy capacity since 2000. #Spain Accelerates #Photovoltaic Deployment, Approving 25GW Capacity! The Spanish Ministry of Ecological Transition (#MITECO) has recently made a significant announcement, officially green-lighting the construction of approximately 25GW of #solar photovoltaic capacity within the country's borders. This milestone signifies a robust advancement for Spain in the realm of #renewableenergy. The total installed capacity of these approved solar photovoltaic projects amounts to 24,870MW, dispersed across 239 distinct initiatives. Notably, MITECO has granted administrative construction authorizations (#AACs) for a comprehensive total of 283 renewable energy generation projects, with solar projects dominating the contracted capacity, accounting for an impressive 90% share. By the close of 2023, Spain's installed photovoltaic capacity is projected to surpass the 25.5GW mark. Nevertheless, to meet the ambitious targets outlined in the National Energy and Climate Plan (#NECP), an additional 50GW of installed capacity will be imperative in the coming years. ☀ #solar #energy #RenewableEnergy #SolarEnergy #Innovation #newenergy #solarpv #technology #solarenergy #renewableenergy #greenenergy
