One of the advices that I will share with you guys especially if you wanna install Solar panels. 1. You need your electrician to check for your pick load on how many kilowatts is needed this should be based on what he has tested. A lot of solar installers don't provide solutions, they need to educate their customers and invest more on solar batteries not on panels. He should be in a position of explaining the following to you. 1. Hybrid mode 2. Off grid 3. idle mode 4. Pick load

Following my post yesterday on #pricegouging and Extra Space Storage and #customerservice (link to post https://lnkd.in/g_Ef9jK7 an in the comments) This post is more in the weeds of my day-to-day work in solar as it relates to understanding the impact of shade on system performance. And more specifically testing how microinverters compare to string inverters. This 17min detailed video from NRG Solar out of Australia very nicely demonstrates how shade impacts performance, and that also dispels the idea that string inverters are substantially worse than MLPE systems with microinverters or optimizes. (YT video https://lnkd.in/grQJ2iQF and in comments) I like that they shows the nuances, and them smashing a panel with a cricket bat, lol. For those of us in the solar operations & maintenance (O&M) and performance space, this helps with the common response to questions and the "well, it depends" The key takeaways is that feature develoments of string inverters and panels have largely mitigated shade issues for all but the more unique situations: -- string inverters have had multiple MPPT inputs to separate operational strings. whereas prior to ~2012 most if not all only had one MPPT, except for larger commercial or central inverters. -- panels are now split into halves with (6) total bypass diodes, (3) in each half, and coresponded with the increasing size and wattage in one panel. prior to ~2015 the standard was only (3) bypass diodes across the entire panel. An inverter with a single string and panels with (3) diodes was and still is the worst case scenario for impact of shade, but with the average residential system size up up from ~4kW closer to ~10kW that config is nearly non-existent. The larger size with string inverter with more MPPTs, parallel strings, and double the bypass diodes shade impact is largely mitigated and comparable to MLPEs. All that's to say, microinverters are great and so are string inverters, but they also have tradeoffs. I like both for different reasons. #solar #oandm #operationsandmaintenance #solarperformance

Are you planning on getting yourself a solar system setup because of the extended power outage? If you answered yes, here are a few things to consider before purchasing one. 1. List down the loads you want to use. 2. Calculate the total power consumption per hour. 3. Decide if you need a normal solar inverter or you opt for a hybrid. 4. Choose a suitable solar panel rating for your loads. HINT! Solar panels comes in 2 types; 1. Poly crystalline and 2. Mono crystalline Poly crystalline needs a lot of sunlight to charge the batteries and mono crystalline works perfectly even on cloudy day. 5. Next choose the battery with enough amps/hour to help you through the time of power outage, e.g: 100AH DEEP CYCLE BATTERY. 6. When doing all these calculation make you consult your Electrical Contractor, remember electricity is dangerous. This is my assumptions about solar system setup, your can add your views in the comments section and a friend out there #togetherwecan🤝

https://lnkd.in/dXf27F2Q Sizing Solar Cables: A Comprehensive Guide Solar enthusiasts often grapple with the question: “What size solar cable do I need?” In this detailed exposition, we delve into the intricacies of solar panel wiring, aiming to optimize efficiency and safety. Whether you’re dealing with a single solar panel or a hybrid system, this guide provides essential insights. Understanding how to calculate cable size for solar systems is crucial for minimizing energy loss and ensuring safety. We begin by elucidating solar panel wiring basics, emphasizing the flow of electricity from panels to the charge controller and the role of combiner boxes in parallel configurations. This foundational knowledge is essential for correctly sizing wire for solar panels. Series vs. Parallel Wiring: We explore the differences between series and parallel wiring. Series wiring allows us to maximize the input voltage of the charge controller, while parallel connections are useful for specific scenarios such as shading issues or when employing a PWM charge controller. Choosing the right strategy is pivotal for optimal system performance. Practical Example: Wire Sizing: Consider a 100W solar panel. Calculating the maximum current and determining the appropriate wire size using an online voltage drop calculator exemplify the wire sizing process. We account for both current and wire length to ensure efficient energy transfer. Complex Wiring: 2 Series, 2 Parallel (2S2P): We delve into a more intricate scenario—a 2 series, 2 parallel (2S2P) wiring diagram. This example incorporates a combiner box and highlights technical considerations. Additionally, we discuss cost-effectiveness and strategic charge controller placement to minimize wiring expenses. In summary, mastering cable sizing for solar systems is essential for optimal performance and safety. This guide equips solar enthusiasts with the knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of solar panel wiring effectively. 🌞🔌 Certainly! “Hold it right there!” Bet you don't hear that more than 100 times a day during a solar install. With a large array, you and your arms can tire of that phrase quickly. The Mod Mover is the ultimate tool to step in and handle all the holding for you. Simply hook the panel's frame, lift it into place, and secure it while you tighten it down. Isn’t that music to your arms and ears? Solar Tools USA:Tools for Solar Installers Faster. Safer. ☀️ Does your business or commercial building have solar panels installed? Did you know they could be losing you money? 🛠 If they haven't had a recent safety check they are likely to be underperforming and not reaching their full capacity. Solar panels aren't a fit-and-forget product, they are open to the elements 24/7 and as such are liable to damage, dirt, corrosion, and faults. Regularly checking the control panel will tell you if the power levels have dropped, alerting you to a possible issue with the panels, connections, inverters, or batteries. If your solar panels haven't had a maintenance check since they were installed then they're probably not working to their maximum capacity. Our solar maintenance engineers carry out maintenance checks to ensure your panels are free from dirt and debris, have been installed correctly, and have no electrical faults. We work with all sizes of businesses, from retail, industrial, commercial, education, and local authorities to help maintain their solar PV systems.
