Sahara sun, Solbian power! ☀️ Our solar panels accompanied the renowned Italian explorer and Sahara expert, Fabrizio Rovella, on his recent trek through the breathtaking Hoggar region of Algeria. Facing the harsh realities of the Sahara, such as extreme temperatures and limited access to power sources, Fabrizio relied on our panels to power his journey. They provided him with the essential energy to charge his devices, document his journey and navigate safely. Even the camels seemed impressed! 🐪 Inspired by explorers like Fabrizio, we are proud to support him and the environment with our solutions. #solarpower #solarpanels #exploration #sahara #innovation #cleanenergy

#IGC2024, #Geothermal All around the globe, tectonic plate boundaries concentrate tremendous amounts of energy, often manifested by active volcanoes 🌋 . Coming from the Caribbean, where the hundred-million-year-old crust disappears in a subduction zone, I am thrilled to meet my fellow workers in Iceland, where new crust is being created in an accretion zone. These two marvelous geological contexts give rise to the red Icelandic volcanoes and the gray ones such as La Montagne Pelée in Martinique. Despite their different geological contexts, both regions can be exploited for the development of geothermal energy ♨. The "power from these volcanoes" can be harnessed as renewable energy, even catering to the daily charging of your smartphone. How impressive !?! Thankfully, as technology evolves, geothermal energy can also be exploited in regions that are not “gifted” with volcanic activity. This is the case in countries like Belgium, where the heat demand accounts for up to 50% of national energy consumption. Join me at the Icelandic Geothermal Conference next week to discover how VITO operates to deploy geothermal energy in Belgium and abroad! (28th - 30th May 2024).

Did you know that the roots of solar energy stretch back to ancient civilizations? The Egyptians cleverly designed their buildings to capture sunlight for warmth and illumination. The Greeks and Romans also harnessed solar power for sacred rituals, using fire torches! Innovation truly began to take shape in the 16th and 17th centuries. Swiss scientist Horace-Benedict de Saussure laid the groundwork for solar cells, paving the way for French scientist Edmond Becquerel's discovery of the Photovoltaic Effect, proving that light could be transformed into electricity! The 19th century saw even more milestones. From the first commercial solar heat pump to Charles Fritz's ingenious selenium solar cell, each discovery has lit the way to the solar-powered world we know today! Let's celebrate the visionaries of the past as we continue to advance the future of solar energy! #SolarSaga #AncientInnovations #PowerOfTheSun #DidYouKnow #SolarEnergy #SolarEnergyFact #ShoalGroup #RenewableEnergy #HistoryOfSolar

A little #history of #Geothermal #GeothermalEnergy's roots stretch back to ancient civilizations like the Romans and Chinese, who ingeniously harnessed hot springs for bathing and heating. In the late 19th century, visionaries such as Lord Kelvin and J. C. Rossini kickstarted the modern exploration of geothermal energy, paving the way for understanding Earth's internal heat. A landmark moment arrived in 1904 with the construction of the world's first #GeothermalPowerPlant in #Italy, showcasing the potential to harness Earth's heat for #ElectricityGeneration. This breakthrough sparked a global movement. Beyond Italy, nations including the United States, Iceland, New Zealand, and the Philippines embraced geothermal energy, establishing #PowerPlants and #HeatingSystems. Advancements in technology have further propelled the field. Enhanced drilling techniques and innovative heat extraction methods have significantly improved the efficiency and accessibility of geothermal energy. The utilization of geothermal energy continues to evolve, with ongoing research and development driving innovation in the field. Today, geothermal power plants generate electricity for millions of homes and businesses worldwide, offering a #sustainable and reliable energy source with minimal environmental impact. As we look to the future, the potential for geothermal energy remains vast, promising to play a crucial role in the transition to a more #SustainableEnergy landscape.

If the long-term sustainability and affordability of district heating is at the heart of the issue, steps must be taken as soon as possible to ensure that more actors in the sector gradually move towards 'efficient district heating' as defined in the Energy Efficiency Directive. To this end, as a first step, it should be made easier to attract low-carbon district heating projects by making appropriate changes to the price regulation, investors should be encouraged to invest in district heating projects by adjusting the profit factor for district heating, set conditions in calls for investment support that encourage as many projects as possible, in particular "efficient district heating projects". In Hungary, these are the most urgent steps towards sustainable, affordable and efficient district heating. And what about in your country? https://lnkd.in/dFzBD9Yr #reheateast #danuberegion #interreg

WEEKEND VIBES 💥💥💥💥💥💥 Did you know ❓ There is also evidence that the ancient Egyptians were familiar with energy transmission. The hieroglyphs found in many Egyptian temples depict scenes of light bulbs and other electrical devices, which suggests that they had their own technology for understanding electricity. One theory is that the pyramids were built using a combination of solar power and the earth's natural magnetic field and then used to transmit the energy wirelessly to other parts of the pyramid or to surrounding areas. 🚨 The most STRIKING energy visualization you'll EVER encounter 👇 (Source: Alexandro Blasi). As global discourse obsesses over Artificial Intelligence and the race to colonize Mars, vast swathes of #Africa remain ensnared in energy deprivation ⚡️. Astonishingly, over 600 million Africans are devoid of access to electricity. A stark reminder of the disparities that persist in our interconnected world. #EnergyCrisis #GlobalInequality #Africa #ElectricityAccess 🌍
