One of Harry’s key aims is to increase knowledge around electric boating and spread the word about the genuine opportunities that lie ahead for cleaner, greener water-based transport. Here are just some of the many points raised by Harry that we applaud: 👏 Growing the market will drive economies of scale in the production processes and drive down costs. 👏 If we can grow the market it will reduce risk, and therefore encourage and increase the investment capital available to those electric boating companies leading the industry. 👏 Hybrids or craft with 'range extenders' in the form of modular additional batteries, hydrogen cells, petrol or diesel generators etc. are being developed to provide a means of top-up charging for longer journeys. 👏 Trickle charge shore infrastructure is already present for marina based craft not in use. Boat use cycles are less frequent than car use cycles so boats are more suited to battery power (in this case) than cars. Where they struggle is the current battery technology (heavy and bulky) but this is progressing in leaps and bounds.
