📢 The Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom (DfT) is accepting expressions of interest from local authorities for brand new e-scooter trials 📢 It's open to local authorities that do not already have an e-scooter trial in their area, and is an exciting opportunity to join the 22 trials already underway across England! We've been running three e-scooter trials across the Solent area since 2020. These trials have captured invaluable data on e-scooter usage, mode shift, safety, equity and diversity and user perceptions. For example, within just over 1 year of launching, 283,000 car and taxi trips had been replaced by rental e-scooters. These data are shared regularly with the DfT to help inform future policy. Councils have until 15 November 2024 to submit an application for a new trial area. #SolentFTZ #escooters #EOI #expressionofinterest #sustainabletransport #sustainability

Re-thinking Roads: 'Going Dutch'? It's good news indeed to hear that collisions and casualties on 20mph and 30mph roads have fallen by almost a quarter compared to the same period in 2023, the lowest recorded outside of the pandemic when our roads went quiet practically overnight. https://lnkd.in/ee5BxUhj However the opening of a new Dutch-style roundabout in Sheffield has been delayed, with some in the city raising concerns that it may be 'confusing'. So, a bit like driving around some of our existing roundabouts then. "The new road layout is designed to give priority to pedestrians and cyclists over motor vehicles. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents said similar roundabouts in the Netherlands had reduced serious incidents by about 46%". If we want to encourage people to leave their cars at home, then the alternatives need to be much safer, more practicable, affordable and enjoyable. I wonder if we'll see any 'Dutch-style' roundabouts, or even Dutch style transport planning, being rolled out across Cymru any time soon 🤔

Lesser-known benefits of using Arrow Cars Leeds: No Waiting Fee ❌⏳ There are many benefits to travelling with Leeds Bradford Airport's official taxi partner, but there are also a few that tend to go under the radar! One of them is waiting fees... Unlike other taxi providers, we don't charge a waiting fee, so if the suitcase conveyor belt breaks down or your plane can land on time, you could quickly start to see your fee go up! We monitor your flight times and understand what's happening, so if you are a bit behind, we make adjustments to MAKE SURE your delay impacts your journey as little as possible! #GreatService #Airport #AirportTaxi #LBA

E-scooters are set to become a state-wide fixture as the Victorian Government announces the e-scooter share scheme will be permanently implemented in October 2024 following a two-year trial. Stricter penalties will be introduced to encourage rider compliance with safety regulations and new laws will ensure e-scooter suppliers implement updated safety technologies across their devices. “E-scooter and e-bike uptake across Australia continues to flourish, led by Queensland’s initial adoption. Victoria’s permanent acceptance enables the use of the trials to inform our local decision making. With the ability for other LGAs to now bring shared e-scooters into their road network, there is a real chance to see at scale the use of e-mobility as an alternative to private car use and connections to Public Transport.” ‒ Associate: Transport, Ben Thomson. The e-scooter scheme has seen a widespread uptake of the communal vehicles and offers a greater alternative to private vehicles, especially on shorter commutes. #ratio #fosteringchange #escooters #transport
