Yet another example of the adverse consequences of financialization in healthcare. This study documents how private equity ownership of hospitals produces more adverse events, although not higher mortality. The problem is that even nonprofits now frequently operate with a private equity/profits and finance are everything mindset. Pulse: Patients have fewer but longer consultations, study finds "The study (using over 500 million anonymised electronic health records) published in the British Journal of General Practice found that the number of times a year that a patient had a consultation with their GP fell between 2005 and 2019, but that the consultations were taking around a third longer."
