Kenya Bixa Limited, a participant of the United Nations Global Compact since 2013 and a leading producer of natural annatto products, has unveiled its inaugural sustainability report. This milestone highlights Kenya Bixa’s commitment to sustainability, positioning it among the leaders in responsible business practices in Kenya. The Kwale based agro-processing company is a major exporter to foreign markets and with increasing demands from global regulations such as the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (#CSRD) and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (#CSDDD), the report provides detailed insights into the company’s governance, environmental practices, and social impact, including its contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs) Speaking at the launch, Global Compact Network Kenya Executive Director Judy Njino applauded Kenya Bixa for the bold step, noting that the report reflects the company’s clear vision, deep understanding of global challenges and commitment to being part of the solution to pressing societal issues. She further noted that in the face of multiple global crises such as climate change, biodiversity loss and human rights concerns, sustainability is transitioning from voluntary to mandatory. Companies that embrace this change will therefore lead the way in innovation, growth and resilience. On behalf of the Kenya Bixa Board, Hon John Safari Mumba emphasized that the sustainability report underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to transforming lives through sustainable and innovative products while embedding transparency and accountability into its operations. Kenya Bixa Limited’s Managing Director, Dr. David Kisa Cheruiyot, reiterated the company’s commitment to continuous improvement saying the company will focus on strengthening its sustainability commitments, setting ambitious targets, and driving impactful initiatives for a greener, inclusive, and prosperous future for all. #Sustainability #SDGs #SustainabilityReport #GCNK Laban Kiptoo

📣 Kick-off to the Sustainability Week Africa: Economist Impact brings its successful series of sustainability events to Africa! Pan-African & global business leaders convene to discuss Africa’s green industrial revolution 🌍 The #KAAIA is all about technology-powered solutions to the challenges Africa faces to reach the #SDGs and secure a good future for all. So, we are thrilled that the Sustainability Week discusses the potential AI and digitalisation hold for accelerating the sustainability agenda. 🚀 Another aim of the KAAIA is upscaling young African start-ups and therefore we’re curious on the outcome of the sessions on green financing as well as green and social business. Maybe one of the three B2C-solutions of our KAAIA finalists can provide some further inspiration 💡 🟠 ChipChip – Innovative farm-to-fork model and tech-enabled ‘group-buying’ to streamline inefficient food supply chains 🟠 Grow For Me – Connects farmers, funders, and markets, transforming agriculture with digital solutions for impact 🟠 KivuGreen Corporation – Platform that connects smallholder farmers to markets and agricultural information without an internet connection Another focus of the #SustainabilityWeek is to ensure that no one is left behind. A sustainability transformation must be a just transition. That’s why some of the KAAIA’s finalist ventures strive for an open and inclusive market 💡 🟢 Amini – Solving African Farmer’s environmental data scarcity to regenerate natural capital through AI and space technologies 🟢 JOKALANTE – Effective communication, outreach and information-sharing in hard-to-reach agricultural contexts 🟢 Mama Pesa – Empowering affected women and those at risk from marginalized communities to attain financial independence As this edition’s SDG was #ZeroHunger, we are delighted to see the nexus of water, food and agriculture featuring so prominently in the agenda. Three of this year’s finalist are out there innovating food supply chains, a key topic of #SDG2 and the Sustainability Week Africa 💡 🔵 FRESH Networks: Smart Milk Distribution Solutions – Making safe, high-quality milk affordable for underserved, low-income urban households 🔵 Karpolax – Prolonging freshness with cutting-edge green nanotech for healthier produce and longer shelf life 🔵 Solerchil Technologies Ltd – Renting solar powered cold rooms and linking nearly-expired unsold food to buyers Find out more about the Sustainability Week Africa by Economist Impact here! 🙌 #Africa #2030Agenda #Sustainability #KAAIA #KofiAnnanAward #SDGs #DisruptHunger #Partnership #Innovation #ScaleUp #Business WFP Innovation Accelerator Kofi Annan Foundation Austrian Development Agency Bundeskanzleramt Österreich
