Balmoral Cemetery, located in South Belfast, is a small but historically significant graveyard with deep ties to Belfast's history. ### Key Historical Aspects: 1 **Notable Burials**: Balmoral Cemetery is the final resting place of several notable figures in Belfast’s history. These include prominent businesspeople, political figures, and philanthropists from the Victorian and Edwardian eras. 2. **Small and Tucked Away**: Unlike larger cemeteries in Belfast, Balmoral Cemetery is relatively small, with its limited space contributing to its intimate atmosphere. Despite its size, it serves as a poignant reminder of Belfast’s historical narrative. 3. **Preservation Efforts**: In recent years, there have been efforts to preserve the cemetery, as it had fallen into neglect. Local historians and preservationists have worked to restore and maintain the site as part of Belfast's cultural heritage. 4. **Architectural Significance**: The headstones and monuments in Balmoral Cemetery are reflective of Victorian-era funerary architecture, with many elaborate and detailed gravestones. Due to its connection to local history and the people buried there, Balmoral Cemetery remains an important part of Belfast's heritage.

Councillor Cerro: "On March 19th, the Cisternese exodus, an event of historical and cultural significance. I propose considering this commemoration also from an #economic and commercial perspective, strengthening the bond between #Cisterna and the #twinned city #FortSmith." Strengthening the twinning with #FortSmith in the #UnitedStates and developing a commercial network with the United States are central objectives that we intend to pursue, fully exploiting the existing historical connection. Cisterna, with its significant potential as an #industrial and #commercial #hub, could benefit even more from this partnership. The heroic figure of #Sergeant #Antholak, who sacrificed his life for our liberation, constitutes a fundamental point of connection. However, beyond this tragic episode, many other elements unite us, such as the export of distinctive products like Cisterna's #Kiwi, reaching the United States and other global markets. Renowned brands like #Findus and #Gelit, headquartered in Cisterna, have been exporting successfully to the #USA for years. It is crucial to further intensify this historical and commercial bond. Past administrations, led by Gianni Salis during the twinning with Fort Smith, and the current Administration, led by Mayor Mantini, where I hold the position of councillor in charge of industrial development, share the same determination. The story of Sergeant Antholak and all those who sacrificed their lives in Cisterna during World War II can now represent a strong element of unity. Soon, on March 19th, we will celebrate the Cisternese exodus, an event of historical and cultural significance. I propose considering this commemoration also from an economic and commercial perspective, strengthening the ties between our artisanal and industrial hub and the United States, particularly with Fort Smith. We must invest in our #international #relationships, supporting businesses in their processes of internationalization. To this end, it is essential to consider access to dedicated grants and funding that can facilitate and support this path.

Again, the Liberal Party grasps for relevance. Canadians know what a failure the Liberal party is. Runaway inflation, housing shortages, food prices are unaffordable. Stop blaming others for the failures of the woke and destructive Liberal/NDP coalition government. Economics is not the Liberal forte. Scandals, unfettered spending/deficits and corruption appear to be the only thing that the liberal party succeeds at.
🚨 NEW WEBSITE ALERT 🚨 Pierre Poilievre has been an MP for 20 years and all he’s done is fight to take Canada backward. Take a look at what he’s been up to for the last 20 years ⬇️ https://pierresrecord.ca/

The history of St Helena is fascinating and touches many aspects of world history. Discovered by the Portuguese in 1502, it has since been in British possession, only being briefly taken over by the Dutch in 1633. The island became a port of strategic importance until the opening of the Suez Canal and the advent of steamships. The island’s remote location meant it was used as a place of exile for key prisoners, including some 6,000 Boers, Chief Dinnizulu, Bahraini princes, and Napoleon, who died on St Helena. The Island also played an important role during the abolition of slavery. This heritage provides a significant legacy of fortifications, remains, historic buildings, and what has been described as “the quintessential Atlantic port” - Jamestown. Situated in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean, this small British island territory is one of the remotest places on Earth. Until the airport opens in early 2016, the main way for tourists to get to St Helena is by ship, on the RMS St Helena. #AStoryOfBones #StHelena #SaintHelena #Documentary #reclaimingnarratives #historicalinjustice
