Exciting news! The groundbreaking DanGer Shock RCT results, now published in NEJM and presented at #ACC24, signify a significant advancement in treating Acute Myocardial Infarction Complicated by Cardiogenic Shock (AMICS). This independent study is historic, marking the first time in AMICS trial history that a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) achieved its primary survival endpoint. Additionally, it's the first RCT within the Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) device trial history to show a survival benefit in AMICS. Learn more about this landmark achievement and its implications for cardiac care. #Cardiology #MedicalResearch #IntelMed Abiomed https://lnkd.in/dUxM-KHc

Today marks #WorldRestartAHeartDay 🫀🌍, highlighting the critical role early intervention plays in saving lives from sudden cardiac arrest. Research shows that when CPR is performed and defibrillators are used before emergency services arrive, as many as 200,000 lives could be saved each year. We can all take action by promoting and supporting these essential steps: 📚 Understanding CPR principles and techniques 🤲 Practicing effective chest compressions ⚡ Familiarizing with the locations and use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) within local areas Increasing preparedness ensures more lives can be saved when every second counts. According to the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) Guidelines 2021 for BLS Algorithm, an Unresponsive person with absent or abnormal breathing is enough to indicate a cardiac arrest, without checking for a pulse. With reliably detecting pulses in stressful medical emergencies being difficult for both professionals and laypeople. References: - Theresa M, et all. Every minute counts in a cardiac emergency. If your workplace is a vessel out at sea, hours away from a hospital or medevac, and a crew member suffers a sudden cardiac arrest, the chances of survival are practically zero. But you can increase the odds. If CPR and defibrillation are provided within the first 3-5 minutes, the chances of survival increase from around 6% to 74%. But with such a small window of time, it would be incredibly rare for the emergency services to reach a patient in time, which is why the 3-Minute Rule is so important. You need to be able to get to a defibrillator and back to the patient within 3 minutes to give them the best chance of survival. When your vessel is properly fitted with medical equipment and your crew are appropriately trained, you should be ready to react to almost any medical emergency.
