Here’s the hard truth: forcing potential clients to fill out long intake forms before they even book an appointment might be driving them away. Remember the scene from Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. where they try to admit a critically ill patient, and the hospital staff insist on filling out lengthy forms first? That’s exactly how it feels for first-time therapy clients. They need help, but instead of connection and care, they’re greeted with a long intake form. People come for empathy, not admin work. We’ve all heard how important it is to gather client information upfront, but have we stopped to think about the experience from their perspective? They’re seeking help, often feeling vulnerable, and instead of a smooth process, they’re met with paperwork. Maybe it’s time we rethink this outdated practice.
