How much can you squeeze into 30min? Quite a bit! I had the pleasure of being interviewed for a Let's Talk SciComm Podcast episode discussing superbugs, STEMComm, and starting a not for profit.
🎙 Though interviewed is is not quite the right word.
Jen Martin & Michael Wheeler, the hosts, put you at ease, ask great questions and are definitely NOT boring, so the time flies by. If you listen to an episode you are eavesdropping on an engaging conversation with a fantastic guest. You should check out the back catalogue for some great content on SciComm tips, but even just for conversations with great STEM guests.
An honour to be among them. 🙏
✉ We discuss STEMpals, the STEM outreach program I run to inspire our next STEM generation through a pen pal program, thanks to the charity The Curiosity Factory.
While also touch on my research - new ways for the prevention and treatment of antibiotic resistance and what you can do.
🧼🦠 wash your hands, regular soap will do
💉 keep your vaccinations up to date
💊 antibiotics are lifesaving medicines
⏱ understand T.I.M.E for sepsis could save a life

E: ☠ Extremely ill — severe pain, discomfort, shortness of breath
‼️New episode out today‼️
We absolutely loved speaking with Jennifer Payne from The Curiosity Factory about her passion for STEM in the classroom and the fabulous penpal program she has created, STEMpals.
STEMpals links primary school students with STEM professionals and kids and adults alike love receiving letters and drawings in the mail.
Jen is also a research scientist tackling antimicrobial resistance and we really enjoyed learning about her science as well as her award-winning #scicomm.
