Animation can be used to frighten us in all kinds of ways. It can depict unspeakable creatures. Time can loop claustrophobically. And characters and objects can mutate without warning, attacking our faith in the stability of things. Exhibit A: the cult film THE WOLF HOUSE, which I write about in my latest Move Madly post… https://lnkd.in/eAtzeRr4

In 1928: Disney changed the animation industry when they added synchronized sound to cartoons. Then they evolved animation again a few years later with 3-Strip Technicolor. And now almost 100 years later… Those mechanisms still bring new styles of animation. Plus animation continues to explode. (Disney not so much) But even excluding Disney’s strange direction with their animated films today… Companies still know how to use those same mechanisms from the past to create demand for their products. They live the test of time. Same goes for aspects like: • Why people buy • How to persuade • What people want to hear They will always be the same reasons to trigger an action from the market. The deliverables change. You may add some uniqueness to it. Though in the end… What worked before will work now.

INSIDE OUT 2 is decent, but strains to make sure its base concept actually works There are some incredible gags and some of the most impressive animation Pixar has produced in years, but a meandering second act lets the whole thing down Check out my review on Skwigly Animation Magazine https://lnkd.in/e7-x2wka

Start to finish comparison of my short film "Hallway Heist" storyboard vs finished animation! As you can tell, there are blank spaces on the animatic. Those are revisions to the final animation! The added frames furthered the story and emotional weight.

Musical Animation 03 Leading this segment required balancing three different animators, each with their unique skill set, of course. Our director wanted us to follow his references and emphasize softness throughout the action. Cloth and hair were manually animated. In this type of rapid production, we ensured that we maintained consistency and didn't experiment with the style too much. #AnimationTeam #DirectorVision #CreativeCollaboration #SoftnessInMotion #ManualAnimation #ConsistentStyle #AnimationProcess #TeamworkInAnimation #SkillfulAnimators #AnimationProduction #BehindTheScenesAnimation #AnimatingClothAndHair #CohesiveAnimation #QuickProductionProcess #AnimatingWithPrecision #AnimationSkills #ArtisticVision #AnimationInsights
