As a specialist legal recruiter, I can't overstate the importance of thorough research when considering a new move. Here's my quick-guide to ensure you're stepping into the right courtroom. 🧐 Start by combing through the firm's digital footprint. It's more than their website - scrutinize their social channels, articles, and press releases. This gives you a 360 view of their public image and their values as they portray to the world. 📰 Stay abreast of industry news for whispers of mergers, leadership shake-ups, or high-profile cases. Such developments can be telltale signs of the firm's direction and stability. 💼 Dive deeper into the firm's background. How do they structure their teams? This is SO important. When you hit Senior Associate level and are considering what's next, it's time to pick an agent, a consultant, an ACTUAL advocate, NOT just a random recruiter. You've fee earned for years. Your skillset is reaching it's peak. And you add ENORMOUS value to any firm you will join. So you need an agent that will advocate for you. That lays out in detail, prior to you ever meeting the firm, why YOU are the person for THEM. Not one that just spams your CV to a random inbox. We ABHOR that approach at QED Legal LLP And we INSIST that you pick your agent wisely. But we can't do that for you. But what we can do is offer some suggestions on how: 1. Ask questions. If they can't answer them, maybe they aren't for you. 2. Stay in control. Yes, hear out what your recruiter has to stay, but if they're insistent on pushing you in a direction you DON'T want to go, hold firm. 3. Ask around. Do your due diligence. #legalrecruitment #lawjobs #legalcareers #legaljobs

I place lawyers at law firms in LA, FL, and TX ✦ I serve as employment counsel for local businesses in NOLA ✦ Legal Recruiter ✦ Employment Counsel ✦ HR Consultant ✦ Resume Writer ✦ Your Career Juris Doctor
A large part of recruitment is about the employee experience. Potential employees are assessing whether the firm is the right fit and this critical assessment starts at initial contact. There’s one thing I noticed that sours the employee experience for senior associates and junior partners. Can you guess? It's being asked to provide a law school transcript. The overwhelming feeling is that the attorney’s last 10 years of solid legal experience means nothing. Here are some ideas to make the employee experience better: -Look up the attorney on the bar website to ensure good standing. If all clear, don't require a transcript. -Ask for a transcript after the first or second round of interviews are completed. This shows the potential employee that law school grades are secondary to experience. -Don’t require a transcript for attorneys who graduated over 10 years ago. I'm Christine, your Career Juris Doctor, and I'm here to positively enhance your job search. Please reach out to me at cberger@laterallink.com. #legalcareers #legaljobs #legalrecruitment
