What are the business of law hiring trends in Q1? Larger law firms had a surprisingly good finish to 2023. Despite concerns, many firms experienced revenue growth. This is likely spurring law firms to kick the year off by adding operational talent. Firms are strategically investing in technology, talent, and infrastructure to enhance operational efficiencies and support excellent delivery of services to clients. From the recruiting perspective, I see optimism from firms. They are interested in fostering opportunities to drive sustainable growth and profitability. Where are firms placing their recruiting focus? We see hiring across the entire operations team, but there is a concentration in three disciplines: ✅ Business Development: Law firms continue to hire business development professionals. Leading the pack, roles in highest demand are business development Specialists, Managers and Directors. ✅ Pricing Professionals: Pricing talent is increasingly coming in to develop, manage, and foster pricing strategies for law firms. Most firms seem to have their leadership teams developed and are focused on recruiting for the Analyst and Sr. Analyst levels. ✅ Practice Management: These individuals are in demand by lawyers who rely on their administrative, financial, and operational acumen to fuel their growth. We are still seeing steady demand at the Director and Manager levels.
