Life chronicles. Remember that first position I had in Human Resources from my previous #LifeChronicles post? It is about the Human Resources Assistant role that changed my professional life. The one that I secured employment through a Diversity Career Fair at TXST University. Yes, I know, it crazy attending a diversity career fair did work! As I reflect on the beginning of my professional career journey I thought I share my 3 greatest takeaways from that resort in Lakeway, Texas. ·      Takeaway #1: The General Manager at the time advised, if you want to advance in the hospitality industry you must be willing to relocate and follow the opportunities. (I can attest this was true for me!) ·      Takeaway #2: Your immediate manager may not always have the answers. My Director of Human Resources showed me how to find them by looking to the past for historical answers. ·      Take-away #3: Customer service and how you treat people is the key to success, whether that is your hotel guests, your employees, or your vendors. Take time to build relationships and they will last you a lifetime. I would love to hear from you.
