𝐀 or 𝐁. Can you guess which group built the tallest tower? -- If you're into team-building and engagement for your employees, you've probably heard of the Marshmallow Challenge. The challenge? An engineer, Peter Skillman, set it up: Build the tallest tower using: - Marshmallow (*The Marshmallow should sit at the top) - Spaghetti - Tape - Thread Sounds simple, right? But here's the twist... Group 𝐀 had business school students. Group 𝐁 had KG students (yep, literally tiny tots). So, which group do you think nailed it? Pause reading for a sec and guess! Ready for the surprise? It was Group 𝐁! The KG kids built a taller tower. Simply, because they were truly collaborating. True collaboration = working together towards a shared goal, without status games or ego. People within a team focus on the task/ problem at hand. They focus on making the task happen together. (𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸? Just play around. I enjoyed an amazing new experience this weekend with a salt float. As you are getting ready to float, they suggest you play with lights and music – and have fun finding your perfect float vibe! It was a nice touch to have the time and encouragement to play around and figure out what worked for me that first time. That’s what I want to encourage leaders to do in their company with certain elements of their day to day, Play Around. As you enhance your culture, explore new teammates, test out new communication channels, refactor meeting agendas, and create training programs—play around. Foster a mindset of "let's try it this way, and if it doesn't work, we'll pivot." When the team knows it's an experiment, they become comfortable with trying new things, providing feedback, and exploring different ways of working. This not only gives them a sense of control but also a say in how they accomplish their work! #PlayAround #BestCEO #PannellConsulting
