Have your New Year’s Resolutions -business or personal- made it past January? If the answer to the above question is yes, then give yourself a high-five…even if you’re reading this on your office computer; just ignore the funny looks from your coworkers. Every year, we set ambitious goals and objectives for ourselves, but how do we ensure we actually achieve them? Here are a few suggestions to help you get those goals through to the midnight champagne toasts on 31st December: Include clear measurements to track your progress - break those measurements down by shorter time periods, whether weeks or months, even days. Just make sure they’re realistic, achievable measurements and record your progress. This helps keep you going at a steady pace, and also has the added bonus of keeping you from doing last-minute procrastination homework. Regularly evaluate your results and adjust your execution accordingly - at the end of each period, evaluate how it’s going so far and where you might need to adjust in order to meet your objective. Make those adjustments without self-censure (slippage can happen, but the end goal is what’s important). And to stay motivated, be sure to celebrate the successes along the way. This post is not just about defining goals or making resolutions, it's about the well-earned satisfaction of achieving them. Commit to defining clear measurements and continuously seeking ways to achieve your goals. And come New Year’s Eve, cheers to the win!!! #GoalSetting #Achievement #Measurement #ContinuousImprovement Socias Ltd

#Focus, the five letter word, easy to say and plan for but very difficult to implement and stick to. It was not too long ago that many of us wrote our new year resolutions. How many of us clearly remember those top 3-5 things we wanted to achieve and how many of us have actually stuck to them? For about 3 years now, my new year resolutions have been kept to max 1-2 things for 3 key areas of my life (work, family/relationships, and spiritual). But I have one key struggle: staying focused on those key priorities and driving them to a completion in the midst of all that life throws at me. It is mostly not the challenges that derail me because I do quite well when faced with challenges. It is mostly the opportunities, that new initiative, the new sector, tool or industry that is exploding, that really cool idea I just formulated from watching a documentary or that call or text from a friend with a business idea. I do not know about you but I like new trying new things hence I get easily distracted from my North Star. It's been only 3 months into the year but I have already had my share of distractions, of setting aside my initial plan of action to pursue other things. But this year has been better. I have caught myself numerous times drifting and have returned back to ground zero. The secret has been telling myself the truth and acknowledging that I am actually losing focus rather than giving myself the excuse that this is an opportunity of a lifetime. I have found this scripture to be really true- you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free... By repeating to myself and vocalizing the real truth behind whatever I am doing (be it because of fear, impulse, or a well thought through plan) helps me stop in my tracks and analyze whether I am only reacting to things thrown at me or I am spending time on things that are meaningful to me. I have been amazed at how much time I spend reacting to different things and how that derails me. Repeating to myself exactly why I am doing what I am doing at any point in time no matter how trivial, literally helps me free up time in my day. This my friends has helped me stay on course much better than before... but its been only 3 months so ask me how the year went in December 😀 Lets talk about #work, lets talk about #rest and lets talk #focus.

Helping business owners find hidden profits in their businesses — FAST!I I maybe able to help - so let's talk.
"What’s in the gap" At our client quarterly event in the Beautiful New Forest last week, I presented a simple concept to help people get “unstuck” Here's a neat summary which might help you. Step1: Stop. Take a timeout and make a note of what’s working now, what are you grateful for and list all the wins you’ve had in the past 3 months… This helps change the state of your thinking from what’s not good to what’s good about your life. Step2: Identify where you are heading. What’s the future like for you? What plans do you have, what does life look like for you in say, the next 5 years? There's a process to help you unearth this, and it can be achieved by simply writing down your thoughts, not just for business, but for the whole of your life. Step3: Fill the gap, identify the mile markers, the pegs in the ground between where you are now and your future. Turn the big goals and projects into bite sized chunks, then turn those into measurable tasks and actions. If you can chunk your 5 year goals down to 2 and 3 year stages and then 1 year and then 90 days, you've started to identify the magic that could help you achieve 4X more in a year than most achieve… The good news for you is that we have the tools to help you do this.. https://90day.biz/

This week’s entry is about quarterly check-ins for work and for yourself. It’s a longer email, because I’m including my own quarterly self-assessment as an example. As we finish out the end of Q1, I find myself doing a lot of reflecting on the progress that has been made on various projects and tasks at work. I’m asking myself things like, “Where are we now compared to where we were at the beginning of the quarter? Were we able to achieve our goals? If so, how do we keep up the momentum? If not, what should we adjust to do better? How can we ensure we regroup and are clear and focused for Q2?” It seems like a perfect moment to pause, reflect, regroup, and plan before attacking Q2. What does this have to do anything? While this is great for work, we could apply this same thinking to our personal lives as well. What are some of your goals for 2024? How did you do with them in Q1? Have you stopped to CELEBRATE your progress? Stop RIGHT NOW and celebrate something you’ve achieved. After you celebrate, then you can reflect and see if there are any gaps. If you have gaps, why do you have gaps? What happened? What got in the way? How can you adjust to reach your goals for this quarter? The challenge: Will you take the time to do a quarterly check-in? What changes will you make to set yourself up for the rest of the year? Something like "this year don go" The context of this statement is mostly used to discourage others, making them feel they're not good enough. Truly the year is about to end.
