Did you know gas turbine emissions can be categorized to improve control strategies? Our latest research, "Exploring Diverse Clustering Methods for Analyzing Gas Turbine Emissions," is now available in the IEEE Xplore digital library! 🌍 This journey has been enriching, from delving into literature reviews to implementing diverse clustering algorithms. Collaborating with my colleagues and co-authors, Medhansh Patley and Ved Bhatt, we explored the application of four clustering algorithms on emissions data from gas turbines, shedding light on emission patterns and sources. Our research, guided by esteemed mentors Harsh Dhiman, Dr. Anupkumar Bongale, and Dr. Shruti Patil, aims to contribute to environmental engineering and decision-making processes. By evaluating clustering methods such as K-means, DBSCAN, CURE, and BIRCH, we provide insights crucial for developing efficient emission control programs. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our mentors and colleagues for their unwavering support throughout this endeavor. This accomplishment would not have been possible without their guidance and expertise. Me and my fantastic PowerMate Co-Founder Tomas Nordström implemented a predictive model based on Stochastic Differential Equations (SDEs) to forecast energy consumption in flexible energy systems. Interested in #FSI, accelerating engineering workflows, decarbonizing society or even all three? Then the next SimScale webinar might be worth a look. Energyminer GmbH's CTO Chantel Niebuhr joined a recent SimScale team gathering in Munich and shared some of the impressive engineering work her team is doing. Energyminer is pursuing clean energy generation in harmony with nature and the landscape by means of a micro-hydropower plant. Chantel showed how her team is leveraging a fully cloud-native engineering design and simulation approach, thereby removing hardware and licensing bottlenecks to parallelize traditionally sequential engineering workflows and ultimately innovate faster. As part of that workflow, her team also started using SimScale’s brand new fluid-structure interaction (FSI) capabilities to analyze structural performance under hydrodynamic loading conditions. At the beginning of July, I had the opportunity to present my research activities on gas pipeline decarbonization at ECOS2024 - 37th International Conference on Efficiency, Cost, Optimization, Simulation & Environment. The presentation focused on: • understanding the concept of #linepack and its role in balancing supply and demand; • exploring potential strategies to mitigate the reduction of #flexibility when transporting #hydrogen, such as increasing the pipeline operating pressure or installing parallel pipelines. Linepack is one of the most fascinating features of gas transport by pipelines, offering a form of distributed intraday storage, and it was gratifying to see researchers show interest in discovering this topic.
