👨⚖️ Back in action after 2 weeks of Jury service.👩⚖️   It’s been an eye-opening experience into the intricacies of our legal system. A couple of things that really stood out to me during this process: 👉 Our civil service is lacking the funding it needs. The Crowns Prosecution case had numerous angles that were unfortunately not chased due to lack of resources. 👉 Rulings are often formulated from a substantial amount of circumstantial evidence. I can’t help thinking, how many cases may have been ruled on differently with a different jury. 🤔   It will be interesting to watch the new channel 4 documentary - ‘The Murder Retrial’ in which two juries will retry a real murder case in real time to see if the same verdict is reached.

Great advice to young litigators on being an officer of the court. Front footing adverse facts and addressing contrary legal authorities. Followed up by interesting pick on evidence in next week’s Manhatten Trump trial. #trumpontrial #legalethics #litigation # trialskills

In the Land of the Will, Clarity is King Your will is probably the most important document you will ever sign, and a recent Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) decision confirms once again how critical it is to ensure that it is professionally drawn to reflect your wishes clearly and unambiguously. Let’s explore the legal principles involved and the “golden rule of interpretation” in the context of a bitter dispute between a financially-struggling widow on the one hand, and her three step-children on the other.
