Inspiration for the week: Corporate support has played a crucial role in the progress of LGBTQ+ rights over the past two decades. While some have begun to incorporate Pride Month in their companies, many do not, and some members of the LGBTQ+ community still struggle with feeling accepted in their place of work. Leaders must do more than make a post supporting it on social media. We must address the underlying issues, such as fear and bullying, lack of social acceptance, and a need for visible allyship and DEI&B policies. People spend the majority of their time working. Equality matters not only in our personal lives, but also professionally. Leaders align or alienate by stances taken or ignored. Be a source of light, and a vessel for change by making a concerted effort to create safe work spaces for all. #PrideMonth 🌈

It's Pride Month, and while there are important conversations to be had, let's also have some fun! Today, we're playing a game of "Would You Rather" with a fabulous LGBTQ+ twist. Get ready to ponder and maybe share some real talk in the comments! 3. Would you rather attend a secret, inclusive Pride party with close friends or attend a large, public Pride march where you might not know anyone? 2. Would you rather have a supportive, understanding group of LGBTQ+ friends online or have one accepting family member who "gets it"? 3. Would you rather have the confidence to wear your Pride colors openly or have the ability to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights anonymously? Some Pride Month marketing dos and don’ts for recruiters: ✅ Do show your support for the LGBTQ+ community in June ❌ Don’t tear down your rainbow flags the second July 1st rolls around. Allyship matters all year round ✅ Do take the opportunity to raise awareness for LGBTQ+ groups that operate in your sector ❌ Don’t ask them to contribute to your marketing campaign for free. Pride month is about supporting LGBTQ+ people, not ripping them off ✅ Do talk about the steps you take to make sure your candidate shortlists are inclusive of LGBTQ+ identities ❌ Don’t do this without making sure that your clients’ companies will be a safe space for these candidates during the interview process and beyond What would you add to the list? #Beyond #Pride: How can brands form a genuine connection with marginalised communities? #Brands and the advertising industry all across the globe have made huge strides in recent years around awareness and support for the LGBTQ+ community. As per the latest #ThinkWithGoogle article, less than 1% of ads show #LGBTQ+ representation even though there’s a demand from Indian consumers to increase their visibility. In fact, a lot of brands end up limiting themselves to performative campaigns during Pride month. For brands to nurture a genuine connection between themselves and marginalised communities such as the LGBTQ+ community, they have to rise above performative #allyship. The answer, therefore, should be genuinely inclusive marketing strategies with a fundamental commitment to diversity and equity. You shouldn’t have to pause when it comes to ticking the box next to your gender or sexuality. But if you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community, the fear of prejudice or discrimination can make it hard for you to be your true self during your job search. Companies should make it clear what LGBTQ+ support they offer, from networking groups to involvement in awareness initiatives. And remember, your rights are always protected during the hiring process – and in the workplace. Pride Month has begun! 🌈 You see so many companies get the bad press for showing up & supporting during this month, which seems slightly unfair.
