IEDM 2023: The scaling of DRAM is a focal point in this IEDM Session 6. Various proposals for 2D DRAM access transistor scaling, such as independent double gate (S2CAT), Vertical junction-less GAA, IGZO new channel, and the dual work function buried wordline, are being explored. Additionally, for 3D DRAM, options include the 90-degree rotated 1T1C and the new capacitor-less GCT device. Each approach has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Notably, Samsung has replicated GCT design using poly-Si. As of now, no conclusive findings have been reached.

Sorts of didn't see this one coming but Sony and Siemens is an interesting partnership and the device sounds interesting. Especially since it is powered by the upcoming XR2 Plus Gen 2 chip. -> Qualcomm's XR2 Plus Gen 2 chip is even faster and superior to the chip in the just launched Quest 3 device -> Sony and Siemens are clearly targeting for industrial use cases here. The teaser video shows mainly use around inspecting 3D designs and data for product design in a spatial environment -> The input accessories instantly caught my attention. Very curious what the "ring controller" is about and what the reasoning behind the rather exotic right hand controller design is -> The device does not completely cover peripheral vision which is a rather important feature for industrial use for safety reasons #xr #sony #siemens
