Digital Twins. If you don’t have a technical background or haven’t worked with software to model physical behaviors during your engineering studies, you might be unfamiliar with this concept. However, digital twins are revolutionizing the way we conduct scientific research in terms of both speed and methodology. You might ask: what does this have to do with my daily life? Let me give you an example: how do you think the Covid-19 vaccine was developed in record time? Yes, digital twins played a role. Over the past 75 years, with significant technological advancements, these models have become sophisticated enough to be called digital twins. This transformation has been driven by advancements in sensor and imaging technologies, as well as improved methods for collecting, transferring, and analyzing large amounts of data. Today, digital twins are generating new insights into the human body and the planet, and are shaping the design of cutting-edge experiments. (Please watch the video below for more details.) In the same sense, one particularly fascinating initiative is from a consortium called the Ecosystem for Digital Twins in Health Care, which is working to integrate digital twins from different organs with the ultimate goal of creating a virtual human body. If you are more curious, I invite you to visit their website, especially the their Roadmap section, where you’ll find detailed articles on the project known as the Virtual Human Twin (VHT). www.edith-csa.eu #digitaltwins #artifitialinteligence #nvidiaomniverse #innovation
