My best-laid plans to spend my big 7-0 birthday at Omega Institute fell through in a big way and look where I ended up instead—with my magnificent friend Abbess Aemiliane and the sisters at St. Nina’s Orthodox monastery in Maryland (can you pick me out?)! I made lanolin, roasted coffee ("Nun Better"), and herded sheep. The sister’s chanting transport you to somewhere else. Amid a bucolic setting, it was a time of reflection steeped in gratitude….
