The program offers select startups the chance to pilot projects, commercially deploy products, and facilitate investment opportunities. While in the UAE this week, I got the chance to drop by BluSmart’s Dubai office and meet the team that is scaling an all-electric ride hail taxi service there. A BBC News article on one supermarket price-matching another supermarket on a host of food & drink products to help defend its share of basket is usually a non-event for industry watchers. However, what caught my attention was the excuse Tesco provided when most of their "price-matched" products (versus Aldi) were revealed to having less of the advertised main ingredient e.g. in the case of chicken nuggets, the Tesco product contained 39% chicken compared with 60% in the Aldi one. The excuse Tesco offered was "....a higher proportion of any one ingredient does not necessarily mean it is better quality." What? A mother or father wanting to ensure their kids get something nutritious in their lunch boxes shouldn't have to take out a calculator to check just how much chicken is actually in the advertised product. Very poor form by Tesco, and well done BBC Panorama for exposing their sleight of hand. I tried hard to innovate healthier products from "the inside" - and then later from "the outside" - but I had to leave the industry entirely in 2018 when I realised I could find another industry that would put my skills to good use. #foodanddrink #ingredients #pricematched #tesco #aldi https://lnkd.in/e7-XDN7Z
