As a large levy-paying employer, we can transfer some of our apprenticeship levy funding to other employers to support their apprenticeship programme, helping to further boost the number of high-quality apprenticeships across Calderdale. Celebrating our recognition by the U.S. Department of Labor as an #Appretniceship Ambassador for the first apprenticeship for #FinanceandAccounting in the USA! Helping to expand and extend the #Workforce. ##FinanceBusinessPartner #CGMA #CPA 1️⃣ Leadership in Workforce Development: It highlights AICPA’s leadership in addressing critical workforce challenges, such as the accountant shortage, by creating structured and accessible pathways into the profession through apprenticeships. This recognition solidifies AICPA’s role in shaping the future of finance and accounting education. 2️⃣ Expansion of Opportunities: Being recognized as an Apprenticeship Ambassador allows AICPA to promote the benefits of apprenticeships more widely. It creates a bridge for students and career-changers, especially those from underrepresented or non-traditional backgrounds, to enter the accounting profession without needing the traditional college pathway. 3️⃣ Alignment with National Workforce Priorities: The U.S. DOL’s Apprenticeship Ambassador initiative is part of a broader effort to expand and modernize apprenticeships across industries. AICPA’s inclusion in this initiative signals that the accounting profession is at the forefront of innovation in talent development, aligning with the national focus on closing skills gaps through hands-on, earn-while-you-learn programs. 4️⃣ Enhancing Apprenticeship Models: AICPA can use its platform as an ambassador to further enhance its existing registered apprenticeship programs, such as the Finance Business Partner apprenticeship and the youth apprenticeship version. It opens up opportunities for collaboration with other industries and organizations to expand the scope and impact of these programs. 5️⃣ Driving Industry Standards: As an Apprenticeship Ambassador, AICPA is well-positioned to influence the standards and frameworks for apprenticeships in finance and accounting, potentially setting the benchmark for similar programs in other industries. This could lead to more widespread adoption of apprenticeships as a viable path to professional qualifications. cc: Joanne Fiore Faith Balshan Nora Luquer Barry Payne Nancy Marc-Thrasybule, CPA, CGMA

News from Forest of Dean District Council; Did you know businesses with less than 250 staff may be able to access funding for an apprentice? Apprentices over 21 years old are 95% Government funded (under 21’s are fully funded already) but employers typically have to pay the final 5% themselves. However, Gloucestershire County Council are able to use unspent levy money from large employers to fund that 5% cost for level 2, 3, and 4-7 apprenticeships in Gloucestershire. This is a great opportunity for small and medium sized businesses to expand their workforce, find new talent, or upskill their team, at no cost to them! Go to https://lnkd.in/egWdyrsq apply for level 2 or 3 and 4-7 apprenticeship programme funding.

What is it like to employ apprentices at an adaptive gym? Rachael Hutchinson from Able2B has shared with us how apprenticeships have supported her team to develop industry-specific skills. Able2B currently has apprentices on programme who work towards their their Personal Trainer and Physiotherapist qualifications. To access training funding for the apprenticeship programmes, Able2B also participated in the Levy Support Scheme and received levy transfers from East of England Co-op and Aviva saving the business the 5% co-investment fee towards the training cost. Increased Apprenticeship Funding: • Starting from April 1st, the government will fully fund apprenticeships in small businesses by covering the entire cost of training for individuals up to the age of 21. This move is expected to reduce costs and administrative burdens for businesses while creating more opportunities for young people to kick-start their careers. • An additional £60 million in government funding has been allocated for the next year, ensuring that there is sufficient funding to meet the demand for apprenticeships from businesses.
